What did I do to deserve his love? I would give my life for him 😭🙌
🥰 He is beautiful! Jealous of all you DTers with your snuggly quirky pets!
What did I do to deserve his love? I would give my life for him
That's what. 🥰
He knows a beautiful soul when he sees one. 💞
What a floofy boy ❤️
Pigeons are my favourite bird, of all the birds. I love their coo-ing sound they make, and how derpy they look.
Plus, Australia has a bunch of native ones. My favourite is the Crested Pigeon - they have little mohawks and squeak when they take off.
Look at these beautiful pigeons! https://www.australiaswonderfulbirds.com.au/pigeons
Look at the superb fruit dove and see the beauty of pigeons lol
I will never forgive the pigeon that stole my whopper junior (with cheese) at fed square at 3am many moons ago. I wasn't in the best state so it wasn't a fair fight.
The resident magpie down here takes them out for sport which I fully support.
I love the crested ones, aka Punk Pigeons. So squeaky!
SQUEE squee squee squee squee squee
crested pigeons have taken up nest at the Carlton Gardens , they love the areas with gum trees best
Wow, I didn't realise we had so many pigeons, and pretty ones too!
Heading back to Melbourne after 10 days in the tropics. Pray for me 🙏🏻
Trampoline park not fun. Awkward with new friend. Wouldn't be surprised if I never hear from him again lol.
I need sleep. Sorry to be a downer.
It can't have been that bad! Surely the trampoline park had its ups and downs.
I don't think they're putting as much carlo in the monty's anymore. There's quite the gap, it used to be all the way to the edge.
I've virtually given up on bought biscuits. They taste like disappointment and cost too damn much for my liking. For years I told myself, "biscuits only seemed bigger when I was little because I was smaller," looking at you Wagon Wheels and Golden Rough. Now I can no longer deny, the shrinkflation and overall stinginess is real. It was literally just a few years ago that I'd buy a couple of packets of biscuits per week on special as a treat for the family. Now each packet, on special, costs what those two packets combined used to, and I'm getting less? I'm going to have a crack at home-made
Bastards
Went for a random drive in this awful weather (which I quietly love) with no destination and found myself stopping into bingo. I've missed the first 2 sessions but there are still 2 remaining so LESSGOOOOO
They call me the big baller bingo caller. They call me big mack daddy dabber. They call me Nanna's Bane, ender of the elderly.
Nanna's Bane 😹😹😹
Is it to early to go to bed?
It looks pretty dark out there must be night soon go ahead
I'm definitely feeling the sleepy vibes today. The green tea is calming me down more than anything... good night.
Not at all. I'm doing it asap.
These have come up very nicely! No abrasives needed, just a damn good oil soak. Their weighting is perfect. Modern tools so oft suck.
I’m a modern tool.
What kind of oil?
Hemp. Simply because it was on hand.
You need TWO ball peen hammers? Or are they display copies only?????
ugh, had a nasty nightmare about anxiety. I was packing to travel and husband was impeding me, making me late, making me anxious. I got angry.
I may have overindulged with my grocery shopping today.
I have an odd mixture of stuff and not really a solid plan but needless to say I have a lot of chicken drumsticks and a lot of sausages.
Also bacon prices went up I think. Also getting too expensive to buy :(
I'm new to buying bacon as I have been making leek and bacon pies. Those pies are the most expensive to make. No idea how expensive bacon is meant to be. The bacon bits, while convenient, didn't seem to be good quality so I buy big packets of Aussie rashers. $11 for 400 g, . I think that's $2 a slice 🤷♀️ But those pies are real good and I make about 8.
Mmm if you can pie you can quiche. Tomato basil quiche is of the divine. You can also get more bang if you use those leeks with tarragon and chicken for delish pies. (I use thickened cream in the gravy, numnumnum)
Gratitude thread :)
Yesterday
Today:
I am grateful I never need meet my in-laws. Stories like Seagoon’s hit hard. Blood Family is not immune from general bastardry and does not deserve anything automatically.
I am grateful I have no responsibilities today and can go to bed at 8pm if I feel like it.
Also for early 80's transformers cartoons.
And Gibson as per
Did you go to bed at 8pm?
Ok that was an incredible sleep lol
Rainy day rule requires me to sit in bed and play games whilst watching SCP videos.
Also if you were into the first A Perfect Circle album, check out Billy Howerdell's solo album from 2022

wind’s howling
God, it was so strong last night! Thought the tree was gonna fall over...
Just woke up from my 4pm nap. FML.
Hi friend it's me your twin. Just stay in bed 😪
I almost went for a 6pm nap earlier
fust, bwa ha ha
Hehe.
It's the grand opening of the new dinosaur exhibition at the museum this weekend.
One of my boys is a bit scared of dinosaurs but we'll check it out anyway. He can join the dino dance at the end if he needs to get away from things
Naaaw that's so cute
Your boy who is scared is smart, if I saw a dino in real life I think I'd wet myself, and I love dinos. I get nervous with hissing cats
He handled things well, I'm proud of him. There was even a booth that played animal sounds quite loudly. My other boy was happily pressing the buttons for the animals to sound and he got a little cautious but held it together.
The T. Rex exhibition is great too. They have the real skull in a display where it's easier to see and a cast of it with the rest of the skeleton. I hadn't seen the triceratops yet either so we checked that out as well. The triceratops skeleton was black so it reminded me of The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here by Alice in Chains
Poor fella.
A kick after the siren to win it for the Swans and completely shanks it for a no score.
Yeah, it was a Barry Crocker.
have the lotr music albums on blast while i do housework and cooking
tis awesome
my poor neighbours
Queue up The Hobbits are going to Isengard on YT for when in in-laws arrive.
The 10 hour version is enough to send anyone into facial tic territory 😜
I'm up to Gollum's Song. Such a haunting and compassionate song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkXbzffVl44
can i be your neighbour
I totally forgot The Bear s3 is out now. I hear it's not as great as the first two seasons as it was filmed alongside s4 so it feels more drawn out, but that's fine by me because holy hell the first two seasons were so intense I felt like I needed two weeks and a few therapy sessions to recover.
Time to get the fried rice out and fire up Stremio.
quietly loads up deluge it was kinda an eye opener watching with His Lordship - especially the christmas ep. I could literally hear his sphincter clenching from across the room once they got going - but his family is functional. Mine? Well lets just say my anus remained unclenched.
I wanted to get into that but just couldn't for some reason. Only watched the first few episodes, but I feel almost certain that if I can make it past the first season it will probably become one of my favourite shows. I'm just weird like that
husband's folks are coming for dinner, I checked with him, i called them "your folks" , first time I ever called them that. Thing is they treat me like crap, always have, they truly are not my folks
treat me like crap
Get them to do the washing up, sit there silence judging them :) With your eyes "that's not where that goes".
I can haz decaf
☕️
I've decided to quit vaping. I had to buy a shitty disposable today and it makes my chest hurt compared to the normal refillable ones I usually use.
These things are really fucking bad for your lungs. Way worse than the refillables. I haven't used one before and yeah, they are real bad news especially if you're a teen.
All normal refillable vape shops close tomorrow for good. Leaving only the dodgy black market "convenience stores" selling these terrible disposables.
Another case of a new law doing the opposite of what it should have.
Cheers. I'm going through now and throwing out all the vape shit I've accumulated over the years. Will be nice not to be smoking/vaping anything for the first time since I was 15
Can't you still get them but just from the chemist?
Anyone got any of that rain that was supposed to be bucketing down on us this morning? Dry as a bone outside, I see the forecast was reviewed to "late morning"... Looks like most of it's gonna fall into the bay :/
E: looks like it mostly hit the southeast. Been fairly unimpressive in the inner north east. Great morning to be in under the covers though...
E2: I rolled outta bed at 11:30 and am most pleased to see that the winds blew the rain onto the balcony for once (usually it's in the other direction and my pots are bone dry despite a dumping of rain). The purple tatsoi has been slow to kick off especially with some rude thing nibbling at it, but it seems to be going somewhere!
I take what I said back. Moderate rain now and Southland parking was full by 10am. Argh
Yeah, it’s just spotty though, no buckets.
I thought I just heard some fall here but it was light. About to go out for some groceries , yucky and grey outside :(
Oh yeah, is wet
Apparently we've had 0.8mm since 9 here. It's a little damp outside, and I can hear a few drops falling but it's very light. It actually looks like the worst of it is hitting (and will hit) between Wallan and shepparton. Hope they don't flood again
Windy and grey in the northern suburbs, but no rain yet
I'm looking for a tea caddy spoon and fell down a rabbit hole of T2 fancy teas and infusions and weighing and timing and i'm just like....dude i'm too fucking poor white for this shit. I shovel it into a giant pot, fill it with boiling water then strain out the gooblies with a sieve as my ancestors did.
Nicest thing about weather like this is the fact that dickheads in their fart-ripping shitboxxen aren't out and about making everyone else suffer for their insecurities. Usually it's wall to wall look at me, ma! on a sat night.
When I was in Adelaide in March we went to dinner at some rooftop burger place on Friday night. There was a dude in one of those cars without a lid that makes far too much noise blasting music driving around the block and revving at the lights (we were on a corner). It was so weird. I don't understand what makes people just do loops of the block for hours on end... Who can even afford that much petrol!
Miserable weather today. The car was getting very low on fuel but I didn't really want to stop. I'd seen petrol this morning at 193c so made a bargain with myself that I would stop if it was below 190, but otherwise I would put it off. Damn petrol station had 187c. I was very affronted by its refusal to cooperate in my attempt to avoid stopping so decided to make a stand and refuse to fill up at such a rude and uncooperative petrol station. Home has now been successfully achieved and petrol can wait for another day.
I was running a bit low to risk an airport run yesterday so I put in $15 worth at a 7/11 doing 1.84/L, I think. It was a very short stop... but it'll get me through another week at least.
Watching petrol prices fascinates me so much, since I don't have a car. It's $1.80 one day and then a week later it's $2.03? But then you can get it for $1.90 if you drive to the other side of the city
The price increases tend to be one sudden jump upwards and then a slow slide downwards too. The different stations used to be fairly synchronised but they are all over the place these days.
I have the Petrol Spy app which tracks the prices at different places and it has a graph which shows the average prices over the last couple of months for each state. The different price pattern between them are crazy. We currently have price cycles that go up then back down over about a month, Perth apparently has dramatic weekly fluctuations. I'm pretty sure Melbourne's price cycles used to be a lot shorter, it would be interesting to have comparison over time as well.
All the petrol stations on Plenty road are the same price from the ring road out to Mernda, regardless of company. Then the first petrol station south of the ring road is 15-20c cheaper. Very interesting
I have been earwormed by Mr Squiggle. This is not in fact lots of fun for everyone.
upside down, hurry up
In my jimmy jams at 5pm 'cos i spent all day reorganising and wiring lights in the basement
I haven't even got out of mine. Put a bra on, yes. But the child's clothes are sorted and 3 bags of outgrown clothes are ready for the OP shop.
Has anyone got a nice simple puff pastry recipe they use and can recommend? I made homemade sausage rolls today and my filling was delicious, but I'm annoyed at the bought pastry I used. It was awful! I've tried every brand of readily available bought puff and it's all awful, I'm over it.
You can't go wrong with Julia Childs' recipie - many heaps of vijos on youtoob. This is the old school classic, and takes a fair bit of work and time. The good side is that the raw pastry freezes well, so making a large batch and only using the portion you need for one use, and then for the next use 90% of the work is already done - at least until the stash is used up. Recommend using unsalted cultured butter for the authentic flavor. The original and best.
For quick pastry, I like using the Womens Weekly Rough Puff for savory recipies - so quick and easy and the results taste just fine though the texture is not quite as flaky. Again, one zillion recipies on youtoob. You can play a bit fast and loose with the proportions for this recipie depending on what you have available, so it's a very user friendly method. The only real secret is using chilled water to mix and resting the dough before rolling out and using. This weather is perfect for pastry - it's a pain to make in hot weather.
Thanks, will check them out.
Had a productive day: caught up with the real estate agents who sold me this place and checked out a place that had been suggested but came onto the market too late to suit. (This one is definitely better.) Then started tackling the boxes of kitchen stuff that are still unpacked as well as reorganising the kitchen. Then felt like a break and a bahn mi so I got that via another OFI in the block of units where I made my first offer and got pipped at the post. And had no trouble walking at a medium pace three times for about 15 minutes, so yay!
Interesting. Apparently the city of Melbourne use Ninite
For all we know a City of Melbourne employee installed a free trial 10 years ago using their work email. That tends to be how these logo showcases work.
I think that's how Slack and Atlassian got so many logos for their websites. Look through the free tier for recognisable brands and download the press kit
Probably. But Ninite pro seems to manage automatically updating programs, so perhaps they do actually use it on some internal system
That reminds me. I saw the other day you were saying your PC isn't that great. I've got a spare i7 board and CPU you can have. Can send it to you via mail if you want it.
It's pretty much gathering dust. Not too old either. I just can't remember the exact model of CPU.
I'm an AMD guy now lol
lurv recaptcha. Does anyone in the tropics wear shoes when riding a motorcycle and I keep singing "I like traffic lights" by monty python https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbRyH6fkee0
Because my name's not Bamber ... EDIT: the Medical Love Song on that album is always a joy.
one of the all time great monty python lines
( at the time Bamber was a famous name, he hosted uk university challenge )
Why is it always motorbikes or traffic lights? Occasionally busses. Surely there are other suitable subjects?
Maybe because they sell the results to auto driving car databases?
...although my names not bamber.....
I have to somehow return a rice cooker without the original box, via mail.
Post office usually has a range of cardboard boxes for the purpose - bound to be one of an appropriate size. Or hit your local IGA for a cardboard box.
Just had a look at the AFL ladder after tonight's games. There are 6 teams on 32 points. If Hawthorn wins over West Coast tomorrow, they'll join them for 7 teams. Even though they'll have a crappy percentage. Next few rounds will be interesting.
Apart from Sydney being well clear it’s a logjam down below and it’s been a rather strange season as well with teams dropping off badly and some teams coming back from nowhere like Hawthorn.
Going to make the next few wins or losses very important for those teams.
@Duenan @Thornburywitch Hawthorn is currently on 7 wins, with games still to come against West Coast, North, Adelaide, and Richmond.
On recent form, percentage aside, I could definitely see them ending up in the finals...
Free Knafeh in the Foots apparently, get your sticky on!
