They did more than lock it, they deleted it for rule 7. (which, I'm fine with the rule 90% of the time, but mods clearly understood this was a special case. Deleting the thread after 200 comments is such a weird thing)
Eh, the original mod got banned, two separate admins showed up to humiliate themselves for absolutely no reason and one caught a temp ban lmao. Mission accomplished
And you can't view deleted posts from lemmy.ml by clicking on them in their modlog the way you can with hexbear. This is just the standard there.
In other words, people logged in to an account on lemmy.ml who see in the modlog that a post was deleted will only see "error_couldnt_find_post" if they click on it hoping to see what it was. For a lemmy.ml account, none of that post content or the comment thread it generated is visible, just gone.
To see what used to be there, you have to get to it from a hexbear account.
Hmm now that it's been made obvious that c/the_dunk_tank aren't oathbreakers and didn't in fact go rogue after all but still bend the knee to Hexbear, will there be talk of full scale defederation?
(I don't think they will, it's just so funny how this has been framed as "going rogue" and now that they're essentially pulling out of an alliance with a hexbear comm! It's Just
how the fuck do i miss every struggle session on hexbear? i visit this site like 50 times a day and i'm only now finding out about this. damn post sort lol.
Can we appreciate his references to "censorship" and a "pedophile witch hunt", too? I felt like I was hallucinating reading that, it was like a complete 180 of my previous impression of him.
Honestly I don't get it. Davel has been on of my favorite members of the broader lemmy-lemmygrad-hexbear commentariat when it comes to knowledgable anti-imperialist takes in the posting trenches. He has consistently been among the best at having pertinent (even lib-denialism-proof) sources on hand and ready to go for when the libs, much in need of being owned as always, start clamoring for them, and then correctly pointing out their own debate bro perversion. I have unjokingly thanked him for his service before.
It is so odd and discouraging to see him on the other side of that gulf.
Truly, no one is immune to the occasional need of touching grass.
Yep, it was really strange, I thought it would be a simple matter of chopping Joker and being done with it, as a .ml user. Now I have made a Hexbear account, and while I won't likely abandon my .ml account I will be able to jump ship if I wish easily.
Looks like he's been doing shit like this for a while given what Marcie said, including weird racist and misogynistic defense of that guy months back, basically saying "lol he's Indian he doesn't know better, misogyny is just what Indians do" while calling her the chauvinist
This has been happening concerningly frequently; people of established time on the site just absolutely crashing out on the
worst possible hills to die on
I agree. I was happy only having a .ml account, but now I've made a Hexbear account and I'll probably stick with one or the other eventually. It was wierd and came out of the blue, Davel usually has good takes so this was very cringe.
It's not even clear to me what the link he was so intent on posting was supposed to show other than Marcie being completely consistent about finding that shit objectionable and the same issue continuing to fail to be addressed.
Im very confused why some dude keeps saying marcies only been here a minute when davels accounts only 8 months old, and davel as an admin should be very familiar with any user whos got that many strikes against their name
I'm peeping the mod log all the time, the best thing about these forums is you can see a users post history
anyway this drama is giving me life, so validating to see this shit in another community, yay
I thought the rule was bullshit, but now I almost support it as a way of accelerating the protracted posters' war against the neoliberal pedophiles on lemmy.
It seems that casually labeling someone a pedo was not a one-off, because here people are still doing it with no push-back. Apparently this is normal, consensus, and officially condoned behavior, which I did not know, and never in a thousand years would have imagined, and I certainly wouldn’t have created a Hexbear account had I known.
@kristina@hexbear.net when you accused me of deviously talking about @marcie@lemmy.ml behind her back on c/the_dunk_tank (ending with “you're fucking disgusting”), I think that, because in your mind I had already been tried an convicted, you had not considered the possibility that all of the following might be true:
I did not remove c/the_dunk_tank.
I did not advocate for its removal.
After it was removed, I advocated for its restoration.
When I first mentioned marcie, it had not yet occurred to me that, because it had been removed, she would not see it nor be able to respond.
Any admin on any instance can verify the first; any lemmy.ml admin could verify the second and third; the fourth one people will have to accept or reject at my word.
And I’m very annoyed with you right now for backing me into a corner to consider breaking my own rule of not discussing details about admin actions.
I un-removed c/the_dunk_tank to make this comment, and now I am re-removing it 👋
