I'm 40 now (married and have a son). My younger family members in their late 20s are having such a hard time with dating that they're opting in for arranged marriage (which is common for Southeast Asians).
I'm not in an arranged marriage but I've always found them interesting. On paper they kind of make sense and they could work if the parents knew their child well and their goal was to find a match that would make their child happy.
In reality though, unfortunately, the arranged marriages I've been exposed to were the result of parents forcing spouses onto their children that fit their criteria, not their child's.
I met one couple where one spouse was 18 and the other 45 so... That one seemed clearly to be about the money/status. She did not seem happy...
