  • At what point does this become an admission that you're chronically depressed and just living in filth? Man is not well, obviously, and I'm not trying to humanize him but in any other conversation admitting this would set off alarm bells.

    • I genuinely think it's that or some other mental illness. He obviously has enough money to pay someone to come to his house clean everything every single day if he wanted to but instead he simply doesn't and lives in the trash.

    • I think thats true of most people in American society. It might present in different ways but not being mentally well is kinda of the norm now. Some people are just high functioning while others arent. But the society itself is so fucked up that anyone not atleast moderately wealthy is experiencing some form of mental illness.

      • Big mood. I myself have depression, anxiety, and ocd from living in poverty under capitalism. I'm not the cleanest guy either and I often just get into a "fuck it" mode where I just don't clean up after myself and I see so much of that in him. But in my case I'm a communist while he's a fascist and his enablers just write off his anti-social behavior as the trad lifestyle or some other cope.

        • Its not even just poverty and the stuggles that come along with that too. Its like the very essence of what life is like. You live to work to survive. You spend most of your time socially isolated and indoors away from nature. Theres never an "off" for the stresses of life. Theres always some bill coming up, or some shit happening that you have to deal with. We evolved in a much simpler existence and our stress responses arent built to be constantly turned on. Its why people who have stuff like anxiety do so well in actual emergency situations. Idk if youve ever experienced it but when theres a real emergency, like a natural disaster or something, im so calm. Because my body is used to being in that mode all the time anyway.
