A bit of schadenfreude should be expected after a decade of listening to the schmucks spouting off "F your feelings" while getting offended that someone chose a different pronoun. That doesn't mean that forgiveness isn't possible from one side, but remorse is necessary for forgiveness to be available. That would mean remorse for creating the issue our country is faced with, not just for their personal circumstance. So far that's all we've seen
Your jesus like approach is nice and all, but a lot of people seem to only learn their lesson after they have suffered. I think we shouldn't rejoice in their suffering and instead hope they learnt a fucking thing, but given their stupidity literally cost lives, I'd say you shouldn't be surprised at people enjoying a bit of Schadenfreude.
