In Poland there is a live memory of a 1997 flood which is commonly called a 1000-year flood.

Well, in many areas this year was much worse and 1997 wasn’t 1000 years ago. When I looked at pictures from completely obliterated cities I thought how terrible it would be if all those people rebuild, the infrastructure damage is not yet fully fixed and next year the same thing happens again.

We are not ready for the catastrophes of our own making.
