Several phase II studies have demonstrated that psilocybin-assisted therapy shows therapeutic potential across a spectrum of neuropsychiatric conditions, including major depressive disorder (MDD). However, the mechanisms underlying its often persisting beneficial effects remain unclear. Observationa...
Psychological flexibility is a multifaceted construct composed of:
(1) openness to experience (experiential acceptance);
(2) behavioral awareness (i.e., mindful attention to the present moment); and
You have no fucking idea how painful it is to have treatment-resistant MDD and to read these studies on the efficacy of psychedelics, while knowing I will never ever be able to legally access such treatment.
Lifelong limp dick from ssri's and tricyclics it is for me.
I was going to ask my Psychiatrist about psilocybin therapy at our next session, but just learned that she is no longer in network 😞.
Doesn't really matter I guess, I would have to self fund it and fly to Oregon to do it. The thought of a "cure" for this is so compelling. I am tired of being this way and having to remember to take my damn meds every day
doesn't really hurt to try alone illegally if you feel like shit anywaysm that was my thoughtflow when I got my depression away with psychedelics. honestly I have learner a lot about myself and got over some huge obstacles with them. I now have tripped soo many times and feel like it's nice to go back to the trip every once in a while to reset my brains
edit: the therapy part would sure as hell be nice addition to just tripping though
If you do this route, I highly recommend having a trusted friend trip sit, at least while you get familiar with the shrooms. They can make things go a lot smoother, from getting water for you to adjusting music to being able to ask you questions that you wanted to think about but might have forgotten (just tell them beforehand). The psychedelic explorers guide by james fadiman has some great tips, especially the first two chapters iirc.
The other benefit is that while the odds of having a bad trip are very low, and most uncomfortable experiences while tripping can actually bring a lot of growth and healing if you accept and explore them, there is a very small chance of having a truly bad trip. Having a trusted friend to help you through that can be the difference between life and death (source: had a friend who would've killed themself if I hadn't been tripsitting). Shrooms can bring a lot of growth and healing, they're very beautiful, but it's important to be careful with them and treat them with respect
Dmt is another option, but doing that yourself (extracting from raw material) is a giant pain. Personally I experience similar mood benefits from both mushrooms and dmt, but I strongly prefer the shorter duration of a dmt experience.
Just buy em at a music festival or something. Or a good jam band show. Or grow em yourself. Most states in the US don’t treat spores as mushrooms so you can buy the spores and separately a grow kit. Or just go to Oakland or Denver etc. They’re actually really easy to get IMO
I really feel for you. It’s a travesty that such an effective treatment is being kept away from people who need it the most by the war on drugs. I sincerely hope something changes, and you are able to access it one day.
