Bill decried by Russia’s transgender community will now head to the upper chamber before being signed by Putin.
The bill bans any “medical interventions aimed at changing the sex of a person,” as well as changing one’s gender in official documents and public records.

Post-Soviet countries remain lame af. And yes I know the USSR wasn't a bastion of gay rights, but progress seemed more plausible in a socialist experiment than this sort of right-neoliberal shit-pit that Russia and the other Soviets became.
EDIT: If you disagree with somebody's take, the comradely thing to do is just express your disagreement straightforwardly and lay out whatever relevant information or arguments you think you need to to set things straight. What is not comradely is immediately othering the person by assuming they're just some asshole that just showed up from reddit or some other lemmy instance and started bogging down the discourse, when they've been here for three fucking years.

Well, I don't know happened, but there's definitely been a qualitative change in the discourse over the past week and a half or whatever.
I feel like it's been changing (and not in a good way) too, but I'm not sure it's due to a coding update/refork. Maybe more a result of the reddit mod strike? Whatever the case, if you think the discourse has changed now, this is nothing compared to what will happen when hexbear does federate.
