Could be the perfect fit. Especially the N350 is rumoured to get 8 cores.
Sadly it's still based on Alder Lake ... so no fancy graphics and no real benefits from for example lunar lake (battery...). No NPU either.
Performance wise the 8 cores combined with hopefully 16GB could be a huge performance gain at least. Sounds mainly like a business device again.
A little hardware refresh would be nice as well.

- A bit more competitive pricing. The gap between 16GB and 32GB on the 15" is $400-800 depending on sales. That is far to steep for an extra 16 GB of RAM.
- An OLED option. The IPS panel is nice but there is nothing like OLED.
- Sapphire colorway on all models.
- A touch better cooling - the device can get a tad warm in the center but most devices on the market do.
- I do not like the proprietary charging port. Just use USB C and add a charging indicator to the unit itself.
What would push it over the top for you?

I was able to modify settings and such, which made me think, "Wow, if a PC without NPU integration can accomplish so much with AI, then the SL7 is definitely the upgrade I should go for." The advertising promised Recall and a deeply integrated Copilot. However, now, even after the second announcement, what I have is merely a web wrapper version of Copilot and an AI Painting feature that seems unnecessary...
Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate how snappy the SL7 is. It's just that I can't help feeling let down by Microsoft for marketing a product that seems incomplete, or at least, not as advertised. The greatest disappointment? I submitted numerous feedback entries regarding issues with Copilot and Office365, among others, yet I received not a single response on Feedback Hub. What then is the purpose of the app?

It's easy enough to launch the app manually if I really want to, I'd rather the key work as a right ctrl key.
You can easily customize it via PowerToys.
First download/install PowerToys for ARM:
The copilot key on your keyboard isn't a single key input; it's actually a shortcut. When you press the copilot key, it signals the shortcut "Windows+Shift+F23."
In PowerToys Keyboard Manager Tool use the Remap a Shortcut feature. This way, when you click select and press copilot, the feature can hold all 3 inputs associated with that button ("Windows+Shift+F23"). Then in the To Send section, you click select "Ctrl (Right)", or any other key/setting. Click okay, and your copilot key should now function with your new remapping.

The original was posted on /r/surface by /u/iceclow on 2024-09-28 13:25:34+00:00. *** Recently, I switched from my Intel-based XPS 13 to a 15” Surface Laptop with Snapdragon Elite X, 1 TB SSD, and 32 GB RAM. I mainly use it for .NET development with Visual Studio, and the experience is incredible.
The battery life is on par with a Mac, absolutely nothing like the 3-4 hours at most you get with an Intel like the XPS. More than 8 hours using Teams, VS, multiple PowerShell instances, Azure Data Studio, and several Docker containers, like SQL Server.
And the performance is amazing; applications run smoothly, even compiling a solution of around 120 projects while streaming Twitch. The difference in the processor is evident, there’s no throttling, and it maintains 3 GHz sustained when needed, something impossible to see in an Intel laptop and far from what the XPS achieves with its overheating issues.
Most applications are available on ARM. Drivers that don’t have an alternative in X64, like printers (I use an HP Photosmart that’s at least 10 years old), are mostly ported, and I haven’t had any issues. And those few apps that install on X64, you don’t notice any performance issues with the new emulation layer.
I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Without a doubt, ARM on Windows is the future and probably the present.
