- Gift Ideas for your DND group?
A dice tray or a set of dice is an obvious and universal choice. Anybody have any more ideas? Thanks in advance.
- One-shot suggestions
I'm running a oneshot this weekend for 3 experienced players and one new player.
I'm looking for some suggestions for oneshots that are noob-friendly enough for the new player but also exciting enough for the more experienced ones. Bonus points if it's something i can easily tie into my next campaign.
- Looking for advice with starting the Illuminati
I'm playing an artificer/warlock in a setting inspired by Han dynasty China. My character has taken it upon himself to essentially invent science, and happens to have access to all scientific knowledge through his Patron. (For reference, during the first session I happened to meet the most qualified contemporary doctors, who were treating poison with the finest incenses and ointments. The other sciences are in similarly poor positions.)
My current strategy is to start a cult of science. The Illuminati seem to be the best example for me to follow, since there is a decent chunk of science that is either heretical (e.g. earth is a Sphere, the nobility is dangerously inbred for no reason) or dangerous (genetics being the foundation for eugenics, fission/fusion being the foundation for nukes). Restricting these things seems pragmatic, and the traditional lodge structure gives a good framework for this.
So, this comes down to the question of which knowledge should be restricted, to what degree, and what traits should be tested to determine worthiness. What knowledge do you think is dangerous? And how do you think i should I test worthiness for that knowledge?
- Artist curates 6 TTRPG background music lists in their page.
Follow his page for access to the playlists. These don't feature his own music since he's a synthpop act.
Each one is in the 3-4 hour range and they are:
Dungeon Crawling: dark ambiences for setting the mood for exploring labyrinths/caves/catacombs or dark forests etc.;
Crossing The Ocean: for pirate-themed adventures, or any campaign heavy on nautical/river combat;
In The Village: when the group reaches a town, tavern or trading outpost, for generally pacific encounters with villagers and townspeople;
Ruins and Temples: to set the appropriate mood when in sacred places, sacerdotal houses, monuments or exploring sacred ruins, magical buildings or dealing with entities from other planes;
Heroic Fight: for epic battles against powerful dragons, mages, demons or armies, or situations that require heroism from the PCs;
Distant Places: for travels far away from the group’s places of origin, be it distant kingdoms or towns or even other planes.
PS: the playlists are in the bottom of the artist page if you use Spotify mobile.
- Reliably run one-shots?
Does anyone actually successfully run one-shots? Mine inevitably turn into three-shots!
