Colorado Avalanche
- Statement Win
Huge statement win last night against the Golden K-nig-its. Avs are humming and not even fully healthy. NHL is on notice.
- Happy New Year
Best wishes to all of you and the Avs for a a championship-caliber year!

- Statement Win in Dallas
The team is still working through its Jekyl & Hyde phase, but they turned it on again in the third period for a statement win against a good division opponent. The third line is arguably the best in the league and helped the team turn it around last night. Nichuskin seems to have found his game at a key time as well. The game against Vancouver should be another interesting test for the team. 🏔️🏒🤘🏻
- Wake up Call
Well, last night's 8-2 loss to the Blues has to be some kind of wake up call for the team. Bednar said during the post-game presser that it was the worst he has seen the team ever play.
- 10 Game Mark
So, what are our thoughts on the team at the 10 game mark? Mine:
- Georgiev looks strong but still at risk of being overtaxed if played too much. Team needs a solid backup if Franky is out long-term or has played his last game as an Av
- Drouin has been meh at best. Can he gel with MacKinnon or other players and earn a top 6 role?
- Colton and Wood have shown flashes of what could be a great 3rd line but haven’t been consistent. Can they acclimate to Warren travel schedule and gel with rest of team?
- Makar, he’s playing solid but can he stay healthy?
- Byram has shown flashes but can he show more of his 2022 cup finals self that we all know is there?
- Nichuskin has shown flashes of his peak abilities but recent performance has arguably been some of his worst hockey as an Av.
- Team finding chemistry with new players both on the ice and in the locker room will be key to hit a stride going into the holidays.
- Devon Toews Signed 7 x $7.25m
Taser remains an Av! Definitely some risk at end of term but he is a smart player and will hopefully be able to contribute. This signing is good for the Avs current cup window in my opinion.
- The Coming Season
With preseason over and the regular season upon us, I just wanted to share my perspective that there is a special energy again around the team with players having a lot to prove for various reasons. Here is to good team chemistry and health throughout the season. If those happen, this team can go all the way again. LET’S GO AVS!
- 23-24 Avs Training Camp Roster
Storylines for me entering camp are:
- How do Drouin and Johansen gel with team?
- How much better is the third line of Colton, Wood and Tatar compared to last year?
- Can Ben Meyers show he's an NHLer and take a hold of the 4C spot?
- Can Malinski secure a top 6 or 7 D role and help improve an already solid D core?
- What happens with backup goalie spot with Francouz looking at an extended outage?
What else?
- Call for Help with Game Day Threads
Hi Avs fans! With camp starting I want to put out a call for a request for help with creating game day threads starting with the regular season. Could we get a few volunteers to step up to run point on this throughout the season? Looking forward to sharing what looks like it could be a special season with this community. Let's go AVS!
- Colorado Avalanche Considered In The Mix to Sign Patrick Kane
What do you think? Would you sign Kane to a ~$2 million 1/year deal? My concern is his attitude and whether or not he would be a good fit in locker room. Also, adding him would probably bump one of Lekhonen, Nichuskin or Drouin to the third line.

I have been bad at keeping track of off-season news, so this helped remind me of a few moves. In Sakic we trust.

2018 Draft Pick Inks Two-Year Deal
What do we think? Chatter seems to be has has a good shot at being a solid third line or so contributor with maybe PP2 time if he hits ceiling in North America.
- Ross Colton inks four-year deal with Avalanchethednvr.com Ross Colton inks four-year deal with Avalanche - DNVR Sports
After a couple of weeks of waiting, the Colorado Avalanche and Ross Colton agreed to terms on a four-year contract Monday evening. The deal is worth $16M
What do we think Avs nation? If he proves to be a top 3C in the league, with some 2C upside, then I think it's a good deal. If he plays up to potential then he could be decent PP2 option, along with 2C replacement if Johansen is ever out with injury.
- Invite for Moderators
Hello Avs nation! I'd like to invite 1–2 mature users to join me in moderating this community. If you are interested, please message me on Lemmy to show you can navigate and use the platform reasonably well and comment on this post. Let's make this Avs community great!
- Thoughts on the recent moves?
Been hearing a lot of chatter (mainly on a few IG pages I follow) about people concerned with the lack of depth with the departure of Jimothy Timothy and Newy and now ERod.
I don't know much about the new signings we have, but I'm not too worried about losing these guys.
Stinks to lose EJ but... Let's face it, the Condor has been on IR more often then not. JT was great, but would disappear for long stretches. Same with ERod.
Newy I had hope for, but he was kind of too small for our bottom 6 and not good enough for our top 6.
Any thoughts? Am I missing anything? Do these new guys stink

- Avs GM Chris MacFarland Comments on Top 2023 Draft Picks
Calum Ritchie has good size – (a) 6’2”, right-handed centerman with skill that our guys were really excited about. He played hurt for a chunk of the year, so I think that shows what kind of kid he is. Centermen are hard to get – as we all know – so we’re very excited that he was there at 27.
Mikhail Gulyayev is that electric, skating, puck-moving type D that is made for the game and especially the way we want to play. We were pleasantly surprised to see him there that late in the round.

What do we think Avs nation? Like or dislike? Is this an organization restocking the prospect pipeline that has been depleted? Are they consolidating picks to flip for a higher pick or a player(s)? Does it mean another plan is in store for the 3C position? What does 2C look like long-term after Johansen? Thoughts?
- Cale Makar 2023 2nd Team All Star
It speaks volumes they Cale got the nod despite the injurious last season. Here is to hoping for another Norris-caliber season that can help drive the team to another cup. Avs are so fortunate to have this guy.

What do we think Avaholics? This looks like a solid move to me to address 2C position for a couple years. Perhaps hoping Newhook can continue to progress and grow.
