  • It didn't force me into any weird bucket systems and felt like it clicked naturally with how I budget. The app is nice and works well, creating rules is easy. I don't really have anything to compare against, but it just all works for me.

  • First move complete, went smoothly =)

The broken images and thumbnails should fill in over the next 8-10 hours 🤞

Let me know how performance is for everyone, I expect it to be quite a bit snappier!

  • I use monarch and I'm happy with it. Haven't used simplifi so can't compare.

  • He's releasing a new book in may where he talks about the future of Canada. Have we ever had any other politician with long term dreams, clearly stated?

    That excites me.

  • No actual policy proposals, just going off his past record. I don't think he has a published plan at all yet, he did recently write a book about his views.

He supported occupy wall street which says a lot to me. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/bank-of-canada-head-calls-occupy-protests-entirely-constructive/article4182646/

And he's hard core pro climate, where he thinks it makes financial sense too. https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/braid-mark-carney-is-a-climate-zealot-who-wont-back-off-trudeau-climate-agenda

The views section here is pretty good too. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Carney

  • The more I read about his policies and views, the more I like him. He's way better than any other option I've seen for the liberals.

  • We're also in the lemmy rooms on matrix, but shadow@fedecan.ca is probably the quickest method to get my attention if you can't even post on Lemmy at all. I really don't expect any issues though.

  • I wish I could get more into this, but yes there were some major missteps during the covid/post-covid "stocks are crazy high, money is free!" period. After that there just wasn't really a way to recover.

Unfortunately it's pretty hard to avoid VC money, the tech industry runs on it.

  • Many. Unfortunately I also can't talk about them, yet.

  • Fuck Forte.

Phoenix was the best place I'd ever worked until they came along. Fucking bitcoin bros destroyed everything because they didn't understand the games industry.

  • I'm guessing you've never run infra for a popular site before.

Yes bandwidth is a resource, but unless you're hosting Flickr or haven't optimized your images, it's not the most in demand resource. It's also one of the cheapest parts, compared to paying for the ram / CPU / multiple machines required to support a large site.

I've debugged hundreds of customers who suddenly had their site fall over. Not a single one was due to their bandwidth being saturated, it's almost always bots hitting some poorly optimized code.

Trying to spin images as the primary resource consumer of running websites, just isn't true.

  • all to attack bots (and by side-effect text-based users) who do not fetch images and thus are the most lean consumers of web content.

You confuse bandwidth and resources. Bots are often the most impactful clients of any site, because serving an image costs virtually nothing. Generating a dynamic page is WAY more resource intensive.

  • I tried but nothing. I checked the NASA solar storm site and it didn't seem to indicate anything either.

  • I've spent at least $5000 on aliexpress over the past few years, maybe more. I've never had an issue that wasn't resolved with a refund or a replacement. They're pretty reliable and I'd recommend them to anyone. They stock a wide variety of components and parts if you're building electronics or just general DIY / 3d printing / home stuff.

Temu feels way more sketchy. They try to shove more stuff down your throat, and they even have little mini games where you can try to earn free things. They're way more about just pushing cheap shit. I tried them once, felt dirty and have never gone back.

  • You know they'll eat us if we die and they're hungry right? https://www.science.org/content/article/yes-your-pet-might-eat-your-corpse-s-problem-investigators

Still, some pet owners might take comfort in knowing that their bodies could help their lonely, hungry animals. “If it kept my old golden retriever going after I died,” Byard says, “I’d be quite happy for it to have a feed.”

    I'm right with you Byard.
