So far, I’ve only seen one of those. They’re so stupid looking that if it had been by itself, I wouldn’t have been able to tell if it was meant as a joke. They also had one of those “thin blue line” American flag stickers, though, so that cleared it right up.
I don’t understand it either, but I want to say that there’s nothing wrong with feeling bleh sometimes.
Mentioning it every time, though, is a bit much. The underlying problem most likely isn’t something your friend or coworker is qualified to handle. If you’re aware enough to know there’s a problem, then do something about it. If you have a toothache, you don’t fix it by mentioning it to everyone within earshot. You go to a dentist.
Well, yeah. This community isn’t about simply laughing at pain. It’s about laughing at people who wish pain on others, but are surprised when they end up experiencing pain themselves. It’s about appreciating irony.
I don’t see an ethical problem with laughing at those who are hurt when their own lack of empathy backfires.
Well, at least OOP realizes it was dumb. I’d tell them to relax and not let it ruin their evening. We’re all astonishingly stupid sometimes. It happens to the best of us.
In grade school, I was told that naming modern-day Greenland “Greenland” was a deliberate decision made with the intent of luring people into moving there. Marketing, basically. Don’t know how true that was, and I don’t remember any mention of Vikings.
