  • If everything is a trauma, nothing is.

Not every bad experience is traumatic. Abusing that word devalues the actually traumatizing experiences. Being an outsider in school and being raped by your dad are categorically extremely different experiences. Lumping them into "traumatic" is just not helpful.

  • What is the battery situation like?

The older, cheaper devices are obviously, well, older and thus the battery degraded a bit. Linux isn't exactly optimized for these things either. I would expect less than great battery life.

  • Hey, that's not fair! Most of them were not killed, but only mutilated too much to be ableish-bodied enough for the russian army!

(Serious note: this is the casuality number, that includes deaths, but also soldiers with wounds that put them out of service, like lost legs)

  • I didn't know NixOS has its own chroot.

I'm "chrooted" into the system, howver, user-mapping seems not to work currently. Logrotate fails to build because of a missing user ID.

EDIT: I commented out all the "advanced" features and had to add some flags.

services.logrotate.checkConfig = false; in the config solved the "user or group not found" issue and add NIXOS_SWITCH_USE_DIRTY_ENV=1to nixos-rebuild (https://nixos.wiki/wiki/Change_root).

Now it seems to work and I could piece by piece reactive all the deactivated parts.

  • Self heating batteries. Basically a small heater to get the battery into a more suitable temperature range. Super simple solution and since batteries produce heat while charging anyway, you just need a bit of heat to kickstart charging.

  • ...so an Ansible Playbook deploying essentially OpenDesk (also developed for german administrative purposes)?

I get the idea, but it's like there's hardly any research behind it. You can "tailor" any installation already with a modicum of skill and a solution that's independent of the underlying distribution will inevitably have to make compromises that turn it into just another meta distro.

  • Unfortunately, these nerds (in the negative sense) make it often almost impossible to find "decent enough" stuff. Try finding any information about the "pretty good, but not unreasonably priced" bracket in almost any niche. Almost impossible. Unless audio equipment costs at least one kidney, it's essentially worthless, instead of buying a sub 1000€ knife, honed by japanese virgins, you should better kill yourself, and denim that doesn't require 400 elaborate steps to break in is literally worse than Hitler.

  • Two weeks is not a lot of time.

There's a middle ground between complete rest and running: walking.

And you don't need any fancy massages, just google a few exercises to strengthen your knees and do those for a few weeks. Maybe pad the schedule with a bit of calisthenics.

  • Is it possible that you simply don't let your body recover long enough?

Also, have you tried physical therapy? I had quite a lot of pain from running, but it turned out, the supporting muscles in my legs were just too weak, so my joints kind of jostled around. A few weeks of cringy looking exercises help a lot.

  • Also, most deaths are not immediate.

Malnutrition, HIV, even dirty water take a while to kill anyone. Arguing nobody died yet is like throwing 30 children off the roof and saying nobody's hurt, since they're still 5m above ground.

  • No.

Seriously, many soldering irons don't have a switch. Fancy soldering stations have switches, temperature dials, etc. But basic ones are just a resistive load wired directly to the plug.
