To add more nuance and explanation, There are only 3 branches of government, and when congress says we want a thing done, the executive is the one to execute, because where else could you even put it? For truly independent agencies, I think you need to amend the constitution for that. The current administration is taking that to heart and taking more of an active role, often beyond bounds set, in what is still lower level of the executive. If you were to go to an org chart of the people being fired, and departments being closed, if you went up a few levels you would get to the president. As much as NIH, or CDC, or USAID, or any others are independent, at the end of the day, they are part of the executive.
Most of what is being done has been done or tried to be done before, not necessarily at the same time.
As for your list, I'd be careful about throwing the baby out with the bath water, the NSA is involved with evaluating encryption, although there is some checkered history (DES) in this role.

Once every few months I try to clear out a bunch. The last time was probably close to 150. Some are reminders, I really should do it a better way, but its really easy to forget about something in a bookmark and sometimes I just want to remember to come back to some silly comic and having it sometimes in view is enough. Honestly yea there is a chance loosing the tabs would cause me to tap out. For unloaded tabs they aren't in history and some of them have been there for... years. It would really bother me to not know what was lost.
(~600 tabs) I don't turn it off, but I do put it to sleep. The growth is usually looking into something, or finding something interesting I want to come back to. Each time that happens it probably adds ~20 tabs. I'm almost always on my computer, or a computer sitting just next to it.

I mean, there is probably a correlation that tracks, but you also have the intersections of a bunch of groups that are probably lonely on their own. Queer, ASD, Social Anxiety. It feels like as you see longer and longer histories in the fandom, you see less loneliness. There is plenty of interaction on FA, maybe less now than there once was, but certainly more than just image boards like 621. Crossing the hump to start is scary, but once your on the other side, its still scary, just the humps to overcome become smaller.
