  • You may be technically right but talking about the nonexistent legal justification for Trump's actions at a time like this feels a lot like telling black people that because the civil rights act got passed in the 60s racism can't happen anymore. In other words, yes there's a rule but it doesn't mean shit if it isn't enforced.

  • If it makes you feel better most of your tax dollars pay for either threatening to bomb, actively bombing, or debt for bombs we already dropped on brown people.

That probably didn't make you feel better but at least this lady isn't really involved with that.

  • What are you scared of? There's more of us than there are of them. Hiding in the shadows, too afraid to act is how they win. Be loud and deliberate in voicing your opposition. If they're coming for you anyway you may as well face it head on.

  • The amount of time I spend online is entirely irrelevant to the question at hand. Your focus on that particular point, which I never disputed, is pretty odd. You can find the information I'm referring to in a 30 second Google search which pretty much everyone does on a regular basis for things they care about. The problem is that a good chunk of people don't care enough to find out whether or not they're being lied to by the media they consume. I don't think it's necessary to excuse that level of ignorance but you seem insistent on doing so. That's not being understanding it's justifying idiocy for no good reason.

  • You don't need to be terminally online to know that Donald Trump is a piece of shit. You're trying really hard to justify intentional stupidity. Empathy is good but you don't need to employ it to the point that you force a reason to let these people off the hook. In fact, I would argue that nothing will change until we all accept our role in educating ourselves. It's not anyone else's job to do that.

  • Many of them through no fault of their own weren't reached by the message.

That's where we disagree. Media bubbles exist but the internet makes it so easy to find opposing viewpoints that failing to do so should absolutely be considered a personal failure. They'd rather believe a comforting lie than confront the truth and that is how shitty people live their lives.

  • What makes you think anyone is in danger of losing their job? Red voters vote red every time. If you're saying there should be a limit to how much bullshit they will put up with from their reps then I agree. However, history says there isn't.
