  • I am aware. I am saying we are further down the "Then they came for.." part of the poem.

  • It made fun of Trek fandom but the fans agreed and laughed along.

  • No, they didn't. The fact is that they are coming after trans folk now, but they were definitely not the first on the list, just the latest.

It is clear that enough Americans are OK with the fascist track we are on. Otherwise Trump would have been defeated in a landslide.

Stay safe out there, and keep those you care about safe. This ain't gonna be pretty.

  • I ditched .world very early on as it was clear that a lot of the bullshit from Reddit was making itself at home in .world. I picked .ml because it is the main dev instance. Yes, I know that it has a reputation for being tankie heaven or Chinese fetishist or lord knows what else, but to date I have never been bothered or harassed by any mod or admin even though I am very far from the stereotypical .ml political spectrum.

There are many other instances. Look for one you are happy with.

  • A must have if you like Diablo style ARPGs. The real treasure are the community mods and utils.

  • I second MacBooks. I am primarily a Linux guy but the low power consumption of Apple Silicone is downright freaky.

  • The problem is that in the process of monetizing something, the tendency is to handicap the service that made you popular to begin with by either moving some features into the paid tier or degrading the service in order to steer users into a paid tier. If demand existed for a brand new, guaranteed to never enshittify, Twitter clone that costs $10/month, then we would have one.

The fact is that social networks have to give away access to their systems because the real product is community and engagement, and you cannot have that without significant user volume. Once the users have freely given the company the product, then the company can start monetizing their means of transport, and the only way they can do that is by paywalling quality of life features. Thus, enshittification begins.

  • Yeah, I am not a fan. You can turn it off from the system settings menu, but it reactivates on restart. There is no way to disable it permanently.

  • I recently got a BMW i4 (their electric mid-size sedan). These new cars beep if you start to stray to the next lane without first engaging the turn signal.

My company's Sprinter van goes as far as yanking you back to your lane unless you engage the turn signal first.

Damned tech ruining a good vintage meme.

  • I find your lack of imagination, disturbing.

I have definitely had fun with a frozen Baby Ruth and a melty Hershey's (not simultaneously).

  • Why? Really? Does nothing odd or unique about 2020 come to mind?

  • I really liked the Suffragette pants, ngl.

  • Thank you!

Ricky was always a creep...even before his mom blew up.

  • You're assuming that all they planned to do with the Snickers was eat it.

  • Why? I am out of the loop.

  • Pariahs overall but the Sisters of Silence and the Culexus Assassins specifically. There is something about being repulsive at an astronomical level, even if physically beautiful, that intrigues me. Then come institutions like the sisters and the assassins and they weaponize that lifelong, wholesale and absolute rejection into something fierce and nightmarish.
