Be Cool Even When Really Big Goblins Casually Drop Acid
  • A water bear being 1/10th of the edge of a coin doesn't seem right, that'd be like 0.2mm and probably still visible. Did you miss a stage?

edit I'm totally wrong, apparently they can be up to 0.5mm. Crazy. Althought they're much smaller when young

  • Do any of you use Kratom
  • Every day for like 10 years now (with a few intentional and unintentional short breaks now and then), also to avoid opiates. I love that it has a ceiling, in all that time of using it my usage hasn't risen at all. It's also super functional, and the different strains allow me to tailor my usage to whether I want to be productive or to relax.

  • Fellow completionists: What are some games that are very fun *especially* as completionist games, where the extra goals you dont *have* to complete add to the experiance if you do? (also read body)
  • God of war (PC) was the last one that I 100% and horizon zero dawn before that. Both were rewarding and didn't feel like a slog. I used to want to 100% everything also, but I've gradually moved to only doing as much completionist stuff as I can before i beat the main story. I'll delay doing main quests until I've finished everything else up to a point but if it starts feeling like a chore then I go back to the story and once that's done I'm usually over the game for a while.

  • Steam News: An update on Steam Input and controller support
  • I assume we saw the same one but it wasn't an 'official' controller, it was a 3rd party one specifically designed with steam in mind. Made by a company called Hori. Valve hasn't announced another steam controller yet.

  • There seems to be an issue with your personnel file. It says here that your file is incomplete, it looks like you didn't submit your yearly photo package? Unfortunately, our payroll system won't let us print checks to someone with an incomplete file, so I'm gonna need you to submit those photos in a timely manner please.

    About the us election
  • Maybe be mad at the party who keeps putting forward shitty candidates rather than the people who are fed up with the shitty candidates? You can't have it both ways, saying every vote matters, and then also say but you have to vote for our old ghoul or you get someone worse. That's the establishment propaganda that thankfully some people have grown out of. I'm not even American but by God reading all this fucking biden apologist discourse has me feeling so fucking sorry for your country. Yeah trump is bad bit at least he owns who he is. Voting biden at this point would feel like a fucking moral failing. I'd probably still do it bit I'd never stop complaining about it and fuck all of you who expect people not to complain. Your system is blatantly screwing you over and you're just like "thank you more please. Please not the trump again"

  • Need help deciding how to stream movies
  • Just buy an air mouse for $20 and you don't have to get up to change episodes. Doesn't help with having to unplug it from the hdmi all the time but that's less of a hassle if you can just do it once when you start watching and then control everything from the couch.

  • Telehealth executives accused of $100m Adderall scheme
  • Plenty of people are addicted to caffeine too. Maybe we should stop with all the drug addict discourse altogether, because it's dumb and counter productive and doesn't get people the help they really need. Lots of people can use drugs responsibly and lots of people can spiral into harmful lifestyle situations without ever touching pills or powders.

  • Seriously try one of the air remotes. It's like a gyroscopic remote and it works way better than I ever thought it would for controlling a mouse cursor. They're very cheap too, the one I have cost 30bucks, it can sense if you have it on the keyboard side or the media side facing up and disables the other sides buttons, deactivatable backlight on the buttons, and rechargeable battery, although it lasts for weeks without charging.

  • Or get a little air mouse remote for $20 on Amazon. This is what i use for controlling my pc when its hooked up to the TV and it's so unbelievably good, even has a full keyboard on the back if I want to search something, full range of media controls on the front, and just point it and click to control the mouse cursor. Gamechanger.

  • Never forget what they took from us...
  • I hate that games started designing around microtransactions. Like who thought "hey let's take the worst parts of MMOs and put them into single player". I loved AC origins and was so looking forward to odyssey and then I just bounced off it within a few hours because so much of it just felt like doing chores.

  • question about "synchronic displacement" in TNG 'Times Arrow'

So in this episode they go into a cave, and can read some sort of energy field, as well as Troi having a sense that there are lifeforms present. Geordie explains that the people must be displaced in time, but only by a few milliseconds. If that's true, how is there not overlap? Say the people are a few milliseconds ahead of the enterprise when they arrive, shouldn't they appear a few milliseconds later, as they still would have had to be 'present' during that time? I don't understand how they would be consistently invisible if time is a dimension like space that can be traveled through. Some past (or future) version of them would be present regardless of the desynchronization would they not?

Please if anyone could help me understand or shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.
