Is the traffic encrypted?
If it is, look at the certificate. Which hostname is it for primarily? Which SAN (Subject Alternative Name - basically a list of all other hostnames the certificate is valid for) are set, if any? Which Certificate Authority issued the certificate or is it self signed?

Wenn über "zu viel Bürokratie" gemeckert wird, betrifft das oft irgendwelche notwendigen Nachweise/Dokumentationen/Prozeduren/... die eben dafür sorgen sollen, dass man sich an bestimmte Regeln und Standards,... hält. Wenn ich nun nicht mehr Machweisen muss, dass ich X befolge - muss ich dann X überhaupt noch tun?

Yes, it’s just Oracle - Temurin, Coretto,… are all safe.
Oracle offers (paid) support for its Java distribution, which might be why it’s still used by companies…
Worse yet. They switched licensing and costs several times and companies should prepare to get hit with new licensing fees:
When they introduced Java 17 (a LTS version), they published it under the NTFC license. This means, this version is usable for free, but only until the next LTS version has been out for a year.
On Sep 19th 2023, Java 21 was released another LTS version. That means, that Java 17 just switched from the NTFC license to the OTNLA license a few days ago - which means, Java 17 is supported until 2029 but you now need a paid license to use it.
Hope everyone upgraded to Java 21 or newer in time.

I have a series in jellyfin. The first seasons are dubbed german, the later seasons are only in the original dub. Is it possible to force two separate entries for this season (e.g. "Example Series (German)" - containing Seasons 1-3 and "Example Series (English)" containing Seasons 4-6)? Problem is, that not all users that have access to this library are fluent in English and I want to avoid that they think this series is available in full only to switch the language halfway through...
Or is there another way to do/indicate something like this?
I know I could just tell them, but will they remember that in a few months?
Heck, I've heard the argument "We're in retail [or insert other fittig market segments here] and Amazon is a direct competitor. Why the heck should we give them any money or any data*?" several times from several companies.
(*Where data not necessarily only meant giving them "company data" but e.g. also metadata about usage, etc. which cannot be avoided and which might give Amazon some insights)
You're right. I was reading this and for almost every sentence in there I was like "copy and paste just this bit" but in the end, I would have to copy and paste the whole thing. Just wow. It's rare to see something like that addressed that clearly to a huge company from someone who can really bring them into trouble.
I mean, the question is if it runs doom, not if it's yielding any playable fps, so... yes! It already runs linux, so were almost there. It's quite low on ram (but ram wasn't plenty when doom was released) and only has a serial output. But if you can vet doom to render in ascii art, you're probably there.

Am kommenden Wochenende (14./15.09.) findet "Stadt-Land-Spielt!" dezentral quer durch Deutschland an über 320 Orten statt (ein paar Orte in Österreich und Polen sind auch dabei). Die Uhrzeiten und Datum variieren je nach Veranstalter. Die meisten Orte sind Spielevereine und Bibliotheken.

In zwei Zimmern am jeweils andren Ende des Hauses ist das WLAN bislang sehr schlecht. Ich würde hier gerne weitere Access Points verbauen. Ein erster provisorischer Test zeigt, dass ein Access Point auf dem Speicher durch die Decke hindurch das Signal verbessert und es gleichzeitig einfacher ist dort ein LAN Kabel zu ziehen, als dies einmal quer durch mehrere andere Räume und Wände zu legen.
Da ich faul bin, würde ich gerne (je Access Point) nur ein Kabel ziehen. Sollte ich später den Access Point doch in die Zimmer legen wollen, muss so nur ein Kabel durch die Decke verlegt werden. Daher suche ich Access Points die über PoE versorgt werden können.
Bislang ist das Heimnetz eher simpel (Fritzbox 7590 + FritzRepeater 1200 im AccessPoint-Modus). Alles hängt im Heimnetz, nur ein paar IoT Geräte wurden in das Gastnetz verbannt. Perspektivisch würde ich hier gerne umbauen, die Netze etwas mehr trennen, VLAN/mehrere SSIDs einsetzen,... WLAN-Ausbau hat aber erst einmal Prio, daher ist für's erste nur "LAN rein, eine SSID raus" nötig.
Kann mir jemand AccessPoints empfehlen für das Projekt und die folgende Liste?
Muss:
- Versorgung via PoE
- WiFi 6 oder 7
- Wand- und/oder Deckenmontage
Sollte:
- Mehrere SSIDs, die direkt via VLAN getrennt sind wären perspektivisch von Vorteil
- Glasfaser wird hier gerade ausgebaut und ist bestellt. Entsprechend sollte die theoretische Geschwindigkeit im Ethernet und WiFi die 1Gb/s erreichen
Kann:
- Gibt es "passende" Switches oder Router, die mir VLANs erlauben und 2 oder mehr PoE-Ports haben - am liebsten wäre mir ein ähnliches Management-Interface für Switch und AccessPoints.
- Management von AP, Switches,... zukünftig ggf. zentral möglich über einen selbst gehosteten Server?

Ich habe zwischen Ubiquity und TP-Link geschwenkt, am Ende sind es zwei EAP650 Access Points und ein SG2016P PoE Switch geworden. Ich werde berichten, wie ich mit Omada (Dem Management Server) zurecht komme. Der wird dann demnächst auf meinem Proxmox-Homeserver einziehen
