  • I'm nearing the end of re watching 'Le Bureau des Legendes' on DVD & Blu-ray.

Only series 1 on DVD has English subtitles. Then only series 2 to 5 on Blu-ray have English subtitles.

Brilliant series. Well worth your time.

"The Bureau (original title: Le Bureau des Légendes) is a French espionage thriller television series created and co-written by Éric Rochant and produced by TOP – The Oligarchs Productions and Canal+, which revolves around the lives of agents of the DGSE (General Directorate of External Security), France's principal external security service." Via Wikipedia.

  • Yes! Me too... I've watched series 5 but not 6. They manage the transition to a new DCC guv' pretty well. Same production values.

I am, however, waiting for time to erode the perceived value of series 6 on DVD.....

  • To answer your initial question with a personal success story I can recommend a supplier in Spain called Slimbook.

    https://slimbook.com/en/

I bought one of their Evo 14 models with Mint installed for a mate and everything worked straight out of the box.

I'm in the UK so delivery was very good but as expected with customs etc. Comms & service from Slimbook were excellent.

The machine is excellent and works flawlessly. Configuration on their site is a doddle. There are a few reviews of their machines around.

(I've used Linux on various machines for twenty years - currently a mini PC, an old MacBook and three HP Streams; I've installed linux for friends & customers.)

I'll either buy a Framework or Slimbook next. Hope that helps.

  • No volume control. No sound channel EQ. No subtitle option compared to home DVD or some streaming.

As a hearing aid wearer the turned-up-to-eleven sound level combined with unequal balance between voice and music/effects is borderline unbearable.

Max bass, max reverb, max audio compression, plus muttering and whispering by so many actors being recorded at low levels, combine to make cinema visits something to be endured.
