  • My wife is Mexican-American. She was born here, and I fear that call. ICE is rounding up everyone that they “suspect” is undocumented. I’m afraid that she’ll get picked up and lost in the system before I can bring proof of citizenship.

What ICE is doing is evil. I can’t believe this is my country after only a few months, and I fear what will happen in a few years.

  • Historical nitpick just because of history and not for any nefarious reason.

You mention a rag stuffed into the bottle. This is inaccurate to what the Finnish, who invented the device, did.

A rag stuffed into a bottle is easily snuffed out, and the user of the device risks spilling flammable liquid on themselves when throwing the device.

The fins, historically, tied a rag around the neck of a bottle that was sealed. The rag was exposed to air and can burn steadily, and the sealed bottle makes handling much safer. When thrown, the bottle or jar will still break and spread the liquid, and the steadily burning rag will ignite them.

Do with this knowledge what you will.

And always remember that Hollywood has a legal interest in showing you non viable ways of making destructive devices. Always think about the most practical way to do something, regardless of how you’ve seen it in movies.

  • I see you’ve never been outside of America.

It is possible for there to just not be something. It’s called no one grew it or ranched it or imported it because most people are priced out of buying it.

But good luck with praying to the market, I’m sure that will go well.

  • Let’s say you go to a non violent protest with perfectly good intentions. You bring your phone to communicate and take pictures/videos.

Someone in the crowd gets rowdy, or has an agenda to make the protest look violent. They throw a rock at a cop, or a Molotov on a car. The cops gather cell data, and now you’re a person of interest in a riot or, lately, a terrorist act. You could have booked it as soon as you heard the commotion. But the phone proved you were there, and it’s gonna be a fight to prove you did nothing wrong.

  • How much does an ICE agent make?

Does a government job pay well enough that they can afford their grocery bill doubling? I have a government job, and I’m thinking of leaving to start my own thing, because I can anticipate that we’re not going to be able to afford to eat for much longer. The selection of produce in stores is already getting worse.

  • If your want proof that the wealthy live by a different set of laws, look no further than the time Elon Musk, ceo of SpaceX, went on a podcast and smoked weed.

SpaceX has DOD contracts for launches, and somehow him blatantly violating federal law had no impact on the contracts his company fulfilled for the government.

Do I think weed should be classified like it is? No.

Do I think that everyone should be held to the same standard? Yes. And if anyone else had been involved in government projects while going on podcasts and smoking weed, they’d at the very least be fired.

  • Tell me you’ve never had to Jerry rig something because you got priced out of that market without telling me.

The final sales price for something from a mega corporation is whatever the mega corporation wants you to pay. If they only sell washing machines for 1200 dollars, but I won’t buy a washing machine for that, then I just don’t get a washing machine. Have you never been to a store in America? You don’t haggle over the price of an appliance with the cashier at Walmart or Home Depot. And some dumb fuck will be right behind you ready to take out a small loan to pay for his new washing machine. So the corporation doesn’t really see the loss in revenue.

  • Where exactly are they storing these fuel cells? Most commercial planes store fuel in the wings, unless I’m mistaken. Imagine a bird strike that exposes pure sodium metal to a cloud or something. Now you have a metal fire on the wing of your aircraft while it’s in flight.

  • Linux Mint is very user friendly. It’s basically the windows UI, including all the familiar keyboard shortcuts, and the software store is very robust. 99.9% of things are just point and click. Using Steam and a browser is the exact same experience as on windows, only a bit snappier.
