  • Fake or not, they too buy the line of "If you vote for us and get us total control you'll get everything you want.' despite there being a precedent of getting the opposite under the current system. They'll say their party just hasn't gotten all or enough of the power yet and that's why there's problems. And those people continue to vote for party because 'that's what you do' in their community.

  • There was this whole phase of Lemmy where it was looking like an alternative instead of a clone.

So maybe Lemmy was almost like a clone of Schwartz-era reddit, before becoming more of a transplant of post-2014 or even Spez era reddit.

  • a shithole red state is all she has ever known

How close was the vote in the state that her vote might've swung the electoral college?

That's the sort of thing that depresses the electorate: feeling like their vote doean't matter or gets tossed outright. Makes people feel powerless in choosing the occupant of the White House.

  • To me there's a difference between using assets that were generated by AI and a game using generative AI to create assets.

A person hired as an artist to make dialogue portraits could have shoveled some slop to meet a deadline. That's a production issue.

But if the games are being integrated with a generative AI model to cover minor assets, that's a fundamental development issue and I can cannot possibly see how that's good for anything.

  • I used to work out of that marina in Boston Harbor. Neat little area. Hope Island is nice because it's boat-in only. But that crossing from Boston Harbor to the Island is much more challenging than it appears. It's the confluence of multiple inlets so that section can just churn. It's much easier to skirt the mouth of each inlet and island and make shorter crossings.

  • There's been a lot of positivity about Zohran Mamdani lately. A socialist winning even just a primary in the largest city in America is a big threat. So there's currently a big push to tamp down on that and portray the movement as politically unviable and a handout to the far-right.

  • My folks were technology skeptics and limited access to screens. We had strict allotments of time to access electronics.

This taught us how to game the rules and make up arguments to justify our discretions.

They were also lawyers, so we walked into the first trap.

  • He ran on the platform the Democratic Party ran on for 2020, which still held appeal regardless of his track record. But honestly after his stroke his spouse really helped carry him across the general. In the end though she isn't the senator.

But now there's no platform at all so he's just doing whatever he wants, including being a total shitbag. He's a senator for a failed party, after all.

  • I gauge things through his spouse and how she was a large part of his popularity and momentum on the campaign trail, especially after the stroke and the primary.

So on some level people were kind of voting for her. And she's pretty much disappeared.

  • I'd rather AOC knock Schumer out of the Senate in 2028. (Or a special election if he for whatever reason is unable to complete his term.) Congress needs as much replacement as the White House.

But it is really frustrating framing how the article is already conceding Trump will be the dominant candidate for a third term in 2028. That's a long way off.
