  • Can someone recommend me a hard drive that won't fail immediately? Internal, not SSD, from which cheap ones will die even sooner, and I need it for archival reasons, not speed or fancy new tech, otherwise I have two SSDs.

  • Then comes USB-D, mostly backwards compatible with USB-C and USB-C++ with an adapter, but due to poor communication from its developers and just being a mostly improved USB-C connector rather than a groundbreaking invention, people lose interest in it. Then comes USB-Rust, with a plug looking like a hybrid between old proprietary plugs of the past and USB-C, while also dropping support for well loved features or making them really hard to use, in the name of variable and memory safety, a thing USB-D also supported optionally.

  • That is impossible for many people for the same reason why they still on Xitter, etc. They believe, that with enough willpower, the people ruining our software infrastructure can be convinced for the better. And also many people still believe that if you criticize their "meme browser" made by the cool "don't be evil" company, you're a Microsoft shill forcing them to use IE, that is buggy and slow.

  • Fucking work moralism. Work to not to survive, not to have fun, but to stroke the ego of people, who are obsessed with "duty". Thus corporations don't have to pay you a living wage, just fulfill your duty as a human for working. Not working is literally worse than starvation, homelessness, etc. Unless you're rich, which means you proven yourself to worked your ass off to the top.

  • IMHO, old internet started to slowly die with the introduction of MySpace, Digg, and even 4chan, I call the period of 2006 to 2010 the slow decline era, then 2010 to 2016 the rapid decline era. 2016 to 2022 is the "classic centralized internet era", and now we have the era of the "new centralized internet", characterized by the peddling of far-right ideologies of these centralized platforms, alongside with the potential rebirth of the old, decentralized internet.
