I know this is a joke but I'm worried it might not be in the future.

They can't cos it's obvious bullshit

The fines go direct to central government rather than local.

UK isn't as car centric as US and we have a (not great but better than US) public transport system.

I get that. I don't get why my employer should be aware of it though.

That's bonkers. My employer has No reason to know my credit rating and unless I'm working in some kind of 'protected' industry not sure why I would require a background check.

Why on earth would debt effect getting a job? My employer doesn't know my credit rating.

Mortgage and loans I understand but not the job bit.

Not saying the UK has it right (cos we definitely don't) but the 'loyalty penalty ban' has really helped.

You can't be charged more for staying with an insurer than if you were a new customer.
