I swapped to Linux in the last month. But honestly being able to use my phone as a backup made me not worry about needing a computer right then.

Both of my parents did 23 and me (or one of the two) and I officially have boring ancestry. Both of my parents come from the same general region, my father has less than 1% of anything else and my mother is 1% Italian.

I wanted to find something interesting in there.

Cuba is an interesting one.

The problems with Cuba are political prisoners and their handling of AIDS. And a huge chunk of issues intertwined with the trade embargo.

As with all nations, it could be better, but it's far from the worst nation in the world.

I'm not young and I still will play a game because it's suggested to me. If everyone tells me a particular game/movie/book/restaurant is amazing, I'm going to try it.

Taking the advice of others and trying new things isn't a sign of inexperience.

I think it's both an issue if hardware support and being the little guy.

If Linux wants to be bigger it needs to change it's selling point. People have been conditioned to think of free software as bloated ad-fests by their phones. My wife was asking how I liked Linux and I could only describe apps as the early Android app store where everything was free and generally great.

Calling out Windows for privacy issues doesn't have too much sway. Mostly because the damage is done, people have posted on Facebook and agreed to every tracker, what's one more? Calling out Windows for being slower, showing you ads all the time and taking away features might have more traction.

I still can't get one headphone jack to work on my case and my wifi printer/scanner can't be controlled on the printer anymore. Troubleshooting has two modes, a step by step instructions set that either works or doesn't, or highly technical stuff that is above my expertise.

I'm guessing you are one of those "I'm not racist, I hate everyone" assholes. Which is a long way of saying "I'm racist, but it doesn't count because I'm a jerk to my friends (who are all white).

I love how TTRPGs are the model for having a quality product means people will buy it. It's not difficult to pirate everything, and many systems are just flat out free. And yet I buy most of it.

Enterprise isn't exactly a representative sampling of star trek.

In TNG the only reoccurring villains that are more advanced than humans are the Q and the Borg. The iconians were super advanced, but are long dead. There are random space babies/sentient nebulas but most species are behind the federation in tech. Even the romulans aren't more advanced, just focused on war.

If you ever wonder how advanced humanity is in star trek, remember that Q is a reoccurring villain. Q has complete control of space, time and reality. The federation is so advanced God is an antagonist.

One of my biggest complaints about TLJ was how poor the plot was. It's surprising because Rian Johnson has some of the best thought out plots in his other movies.

The slow speed chase didn't make sense, the empire first order could see they were heading to a planet. Finn and Rose had time to leave, go to another planet and come back without issue, why weren't they scattering parts of the fleet and people the whole time?

Worst, the entirety of the movie didn't move the plot forward. At the end of TFA Rey is a nascent Jedi searching for a place to fit in, Kylo is struggling with his path trying, Finn is trying to fit in and Poe is a hotshot pilot. At the end of TLJ no character advanced, they are all in the same spot.

I would have preferred if they did some really weird stuff, like Rey becomes Kylo's student to save everyone else. Will she redeem him or be corrupted? Will she be a double agent? What exactly are the goals of the first order? Can they be subverted into something good?

After TLJ I didn't care what was going to happen to anyone, and still don't.

Make sure the pan is hot and there is fat in the pan and don't move the toast until a crust has formed.

Stuff sticks more in a cold pan. As the pan heats the metal expands, any tiny pits in the pan get filled in with slightly expanded metal, any remaining spots are filled in with oil/butter. If you let the food sit longer it'll release easier. Honestly, if you are sticking try waiting 30s, normally that will help.

Star wars fans hate TFA for reasons that elude me.

I'm with you, TFA was cool. I wanted to know more about the knights of Ren. Kylo was interesting, here is a villain who is struggling with using the dark side, but is trying to commit to it. That's something we don't see ever. Finn was a neat character, and another new perspective.

I think the Rey hatred is actually misogyny. People don't lose their minds that Luke is best fighter pilot in the rebellion, but Rey uses the force in the "wrong" way and she's an unredeemable Mary Sue. I'm not one to cry discrimination, but the amount of venom targeted at the character implies something deeper.

I too gave up after TLJ, it seemed designed to make me stop caring about star wars.

Stargate is one of the strangest and best sci-fi TV series.

It starts with humans just losing all of the time and a tone that is too serious for its content. As the show goes on there are episodes where everyone where there is a fake TV show of SG-1 and the villains are actively afraid of the US military.
