  • Certainly not top tier. Very few make it through that kind of training, by definition. High end specops get hired by billionaires for amazing salaries. Lesser elitists have to settle for lesser qualified security: former soldiers and cops basically.

None see all. None have superpowers. None of them are immortal. All of them are outnumbered.

  • Bullshit. When the established power base forces millions of lives into destitution, revolution is the only acceptable solution. After which you change your government to benefit the people. Communism wasn't the problem. The problem is Russia has had a cultural obsession with strongmen for centuries. That was their problem under monarchy, under communism, and now under capitalism.

In fact communism was the best thing that ever happened to Russia. They used to be peasants. They improved literacy, their industrial capacity, and built a middle class. They beat America to space. But they just couldn't find it in themselves to overthrow strongmen, and that is why they suffered.

  • What a strange idea to consider; that a nation attempting an early experiment to improve society might somehow be drawn off course early by wealthy, powerful psychopaths.

My goodness, this must be the first time in human history.

  • Aw gee, let's see; 3rd world nations attempting to create a future for their people vs the CIA. Clearly the problem is a flaw in their political philosophy, not the ruthless, overwhelming superpower that doesn't want to see that happen because prices might go up.

    Jesus Christ.

  • Correct. Communism has never been allowed to succeed. Either it's been co-opted by fascists and dictators from within, or it's been crushed by the CIA from outside. Many small attempts have shown great promise, however, before the greedy and powerful slaughtered them.

  • As a matter of fact, yes! Tacking a sail side to side allows a sailboat to sail upwind in a zig zag pattern. With a solar sail, a spacecraft can tack away from the direction of orbit, slowing down to reduce its escape velocity, and allowing the Sun's gravity to pull it closer. All using no fuel.

Veritaseum breaks down the principle. https://youtu.be/jyQwgBAaBag

  • Land the rover in the twilight, then have it drive ahead of the sunrise using solar power.

It is the most difficult planet to land upon, but a solar sail could aid in slowing down. Mercury would be excellent for mining and to deliver resources throughout the entire solar system.

  • Atheist. I was raised in various flavors of southern, whites protestant churches. Mostly the so-called charismatic, non-denominational, types, but also mainstream Southern Baptists, Presbyterians, etc, but not excluding some of the weirder cultish strains.

I left because I began to realize just how fucked in the head they raised me. I couldn't relate to regular people very well at all, and couldn't trust the judgement of religious people at any level. I got out and got the help I needed. I only wish I had done it sooner.

  • Please please don't. You're setting great examples by putting them in prisons. Nobody anywhere needs American fascists getting reinforcements. It's better for everyone that they be incarcerated, banned from public office, and their wealth seized. If they can be rehabilitated, fine. Maybe. Otherwise let them rot.

  • Dude has charisma and is skilled at improv. He had a story of overcoming addiction and had some good things to say about social issues back then. That kind of thing sells, so lots of scumbags put it in their bios.
