  • Everyone who keeps posting this ignores that there has been vegan cat food for years, supplemented with necessary vitamins etc and backed up with scientific research. They didn't make it up out of thin air as you seem to be implying. Sceptism or disagreement is fine. Painting the other side as lunatics is not.

  • I mean, that's kind of saying you're going to delibrately drive a Hummer because it 'fits your lifestyle', and then getting annoyed when people point out it's incredibly wasteful and dangerous. There's a certain point where you have to acknowledge reality, yah?

  • My tidbit to add is that when the Mongols got to Europe and encountered stone castles that were harder to siege, they solved the problem by bringing in seige engineers....from China.

They were doing that stuff on the reg. One of their demanded tributes was, essentially, skilled workers as slaves. They were very aware that they had a very particular skillset that didn't translate well to everything. So they took what they needed to run their empire and put it wherever it was needed - even if it was someone who knew how to e.g. do algebra.

  • This is why I'm convinced we need to start mechanically speed-limiting cars. We do it for ebikes, but god forbid we do it for vehicles 100x heavier. No, your 4000lb vehicle does not need to go 0-60 in 5 seconds just to get you to work everyday.

  • I mean, that has already happened in our history. The result is that the lion’s share of humans are 1-4% Neanderthal. Not to mention ancestry from Denisovans and possibly others.

The end result of a DnD world is a bunch of humans with slightly pointy ears and big teeth.

  • What utter crap.

The universe is mostly empty space with the occasional rock and ball of plasma. Assumptions of universal morality are just the result of an overactive tendency for our brains to find patterns in things. I do good things because I like doing them. This is likely the result of a bunch of evolved tendencies as well, but A) I am not making appeals to superstitious nonsense, and B) I can intellectually recognize that this feral drive I feel results in other sentient beings having a better life.

Taking all of that and saying, "YoU hAvE sPiRiTuaL nEeds!" is so completely absurd I don't even have words for it.
