  • Unironically this is probably the case - feminine ones are excluded from military service for example (show proof to the doctor to escape service), whereas others are allowed.

  • Is vice versa so common? Lol.

Calling a religion a disease borders fascistic rhetoric.

  • I thought the image might be kinda heavy on resources but it turns out it's only 850 kB. I might still reduce or compress with a jpg conversion later and see if that works.

I quite like the transparent background.

If you have any ideas for an icon do suggest one. I was thinking a Nine and Three Quarters sign or seal, but I haven't found an appropriate one yet.

  • I've watched all of Yes Minister, it's aged pretty well in many areas despite the topics and characters involved.

RP is also known as the BBC accent, but these days it's not so much of an accent monoculture there. (Only a political one :) ).

  • @Hurts@lemmy.world I'm interested in being mod here - I would do some cosmetic icon and banner additions and post fairly regularly too.

  • You can enable it on settings, you'll probably have to download one of the suggested apps that do this, newpipe is probably best.

  • They used exit polls, so I doubt the data includes that. It's likely that anomalies are cut out too if the data is processed this way - they also compare the median to the state median to make the comparison more meaningful, which is how we 'know' that his base is wealthier.

Apologies for using Nat Sliver as a source.

  • I thought you were being serious for a second.

  • I like the part where it'll play as a normal video as well.

  • Youtube shorts block is a godsend by the sounds of it, installing now.

  • Not really, Christianity in the US was and continues to be a corporate funded endeavour. That doesn't make the belief system inherently bad, it's like most things that have been corrupted by moneyed interests.

    edit: spelling, grammar.

  • I'm sure you understand this already, but your idea is politically and morally equivalent to what's happening in the article. Everyone has the right to freedom of religion.

edit: Strange that people become like this when told that religious people deserve protections as a minority or protected class. I'd hoped to leave new athiest cringe behind at spez's place but apparently you can't have everything.

  • Are you sure they weren't lovers of cars/cussy?

  • Of course, but that's the case for medicine in the US across the board. It's not so much a problem elsewhere.

  • We have to accept that democracy is too easy to 'manage' and has been since its inception. We need local democracy badly.

  • I've seen the post about comments/posts 'critical of China' being removed - the actual posts in question were low information, misleading and in many cases also denying reality. One guy denied we're in a (soft) cold war even. I think the mods there need to be clearer about the rules though, and criticism of any country's actions should be allowed. They left the post up btw.

And I'm actually okay with discussions about geopolitics being controlled. Those tend to bring out the worst wierdos from the old place.

  • lemmy.ml looks cool, I couldn't create an account with them recently but I had a two year old account with a federated site that should work iirc.

  • only posts from subbed friends

Like instagram/twitter but for (long-form?) text posts/memes/links. That's interesting. It'll be the opposite of 'chatting' - I mean, that's just lemmy, but it still seems new and novel.
