  • AM doesn't reach further than FM, it's just that historically we've been using AM at lower frequencies, and these travel further. You could transmit with FM just as well on these frequencies, and get the same range.

These radio telescopes don't transmit anything at all, they listen to radio waves coming from the cosmos. Much like a normal telescope doesn't transmit light.

  • Leaving aside the problem that you are choosing a date system depending on who is using the dating system

I'm choosing one for humans, that'd seem to be the group that uses date systems most. Picking a new datesystem for each purpose would be insane, but also exactly what's happening in computer systems.

under that condition the most logical would be MM/DD/YYYY, which is truly terrible, so I'm going to politely ignore your argument.

I fail to see that conclusion? Why would that be the most logical?

  • It isn't American, and it doesn't taste like shit.

The founder, Teun van der Keuken, is a Dutch guy. He started this journey with sueing himself before a Dutch judge, on account of participating in slave labour (by buying chocolate in a supermarket, knowing that it's likely produced by slave labour)

  • The same worries exist here too though. The blood bank isn't allowed to pay you for your plasma, but it's absolutely a for-profit organisation that runs on selling your plasma to pharmaceutical companies.

I still believe it's a good thing to donate, but sometimes it feels a little icky that there's also a businessmodel around it
