  • I somewhat agree with a lot of people who are pointing out that there probably won't be a significant increase in deportations or Tariffs due to American capitalism reliance on undocumented labor and the potential devastating economic impact.

I worry though that we vastly underestimate how ideologically driven this party is. A lot of us didn't think they'd actually go the full distance of overturning roe v wade either because it was a bridge too far...and now look at where we are. A lot of people underestimated the Nazi's commitment also. It might be pragmatic at this point to assume they actually mean it.

  • The real issue is they want to shove every round peg into the square hole of live service to try and get that sweet sweet monetization even when it makes no sense.

I actually genuinely unironically believe that live service is the best option by far for fighting games in the future though. Make it free with a rotating available roster and then charge for a perma unlock and then monetize the hell out of skins/intros/cosmetics. Really excited for 2xko.

  • Genuinely was wondering: what food/drink actually uses red 3 today? Like definitely sounds like it should probably be banned from food one way or another but every food I can think of with red dye is red 40. Edit: like if it doesn't go without saying you should probably avoid red 40 also just cause you should avoid processes foods with additives as much as possible...but still better.

  • Indeed. Also worth pointing out to those who may not know: while the bulk of that was part of the trump administration a not insignificant portion of it was conducted under Biden before he shut it down.

  • I can't say its jaw dropping because it was kinda an open secret but: Given how much actual disinformation and bullshit was going on in the middle of COVID on social media it's a pretty chilling mask off reveal on what the actual priorities are. Honestly if you had told me this is how it would play out even just 2 years ago I don't know if I would have believed it.

  • I know i'm preaching to the choir here but I seriously want to ask the libs: How is this anything but a complete and unconditional surrender of the legal system? You broke the law. You were convicted of a serious crime. Your sentence is that you're free to go sir, "god speed".

Like that's fucking it. If the laws ever did matter they sure as fuck don't anymore. He is materially above it and free from all consequences. So what are you gonna fucking do about it?

  • Once they completely solve the burn in problem with OLED, assuming they haven't already, I honestly genuinely don't know where they actually are gonna go from here. Even for gaming (VR not withstanding): 4k HDR+ @120hz is already more than what 99% of the market could ever genuinely want (let alone need) and if you genuinely are that top 1% of prosumers you are almost certainly more invested in a dedicated desktop monitor than a giant TV. For movie/tv watching experiences we're already well past what most content can even handle since nearly everything even at the highest budgets in Hollywood is mastered with a 2k digital intermediary before they upscale it.

Nobody needs 8k. I don't even mean most consumers don't need 8k. I mean even most prosumers or video professionals don't need 8k, let alone 16k which the new HDMI 2.2 spec supports. Its a dead end.

Genuinely: whatever level of media consumer you are I genuinely don't think you'll be able to tell much difference if any between a panel released this year and a panel 10 years from now. Its all just quality of life updates and gimmicks from here on out.

  • Based on what we understand about the universe I honestly genuinely think that Aliens who could accomplish intergalactic travel would basically have to be some kind of eldritch horror to our eyes. Their biology or perception of time would be have to be so far removed from what we think of as sentient life I think we'd find them beyond comprehension.

  • You know I have a feeling there's a few libs out there who see this as some kind of statement about presidential transitions or whatever and how Biden is being the bigger man.... ignoring that Guiado and, presumably, this loser both represent US backed attempts to do a fucking coup. The irony is incredible.

  • An actual big question you really have to ask these days is: do you give a shit about 4k gaming?

If you don't and you're fine with 1080p then I would wait a few more weeks when the rtx 5 series is announced and get a discounted 3060 or even 4060.

  • I once had an idea for a dating app where you could just put a profile up and then set yourself to a unique mode where you would essentially automatically match with anyone who swiped right but also you couldn't scroll through profiles either.

My working name for the app was "Settle"

  • I'm a pretty big fan of the PS5 controller personally. Plays well with steam. Most games natively support button prompts for it also and for those which don't there are mods.

This might not be the case at this point as I'm mostly focused on fighting games, but for most of my life the general rule has been that officially produced first part controllers are going to be the best bang for your buck you can get as far as gamepads. You can get 3rd party controllers of equal or greater quality but very few if any at that level of quality at a competitive price point. Most 3rd party controllers marked at the price of an official controller or cheaper almost always use inferior parts and won't provide the same feedback or longevity. Unless you want to shell out for a premium custom build a current gen Xbox or Playstation controller is still likely the best option.

  • carries the entire arsenal but only uses two weapons

One thing I really have to hand to the Doom 2016 gameplay loop: you can tell they really worked hard to make sure you couldn't do this. At multiple points you're basically required to use every single weapon just because it's the only way you actually have enough bullets to do it.

  • No, there was video of him being arrested at the McDonald's circulating out there. Paraphrasing but he was pretty defiant screaming "this is an insult to the intelligence of the american people!" Et al. Taken in the context of everything else...seems pretty clear. I'm open minded to the idea that stuff was also planted and there's some shadiness....but I do think he's the guy right now.

  • It's the reason I initially was getting tin foil hat about whether he was a fall guy. My current best guess to explain the discrepancy is that he was basically wavering back and forth on trying to get away Scott free or fully martyr himself.

  • Yeah, I was cautiously skeptical from the beginning but there's way too many pieces including his statements during arrest. I'd be shocked if it somehow wasn't him at this point.

Strange for him to lie about the money of all things. Almost makes me wonder if that particular part actually was planted.

  • To be clear: the only thing being reported on is that he disputed the 10k in cash and his backpack. I'm increasingly starting to think this isn't a frame up job but afaik we have no idea what he said or did not say about the manifesto or the gun...or whether or not he was even questioned about those things in the first place.

  • Good post. He's not the hero we wanted or even the one we deserved...but he is the one we have and he has my critical support. Its very different of course but in some ways I'm reminded of Julian Assange and the importance of not missing the forest for the trees.

  • Call me crazy but I would **guess ** it would be the scene of the crime.

I just checked to verify, and assuming (someone confirm for me) it was the McDonald's, 1500 9th Avenue Station Mall, Altoona, PA 16602:

As the crow flies its 232.050 miles.

By land transport its 277.516 miles.

.....sooooooo yeaaaaah...its a stretch but it kinda works.

Edit: Hold up...depending on the route you take it Could be 277 to 290 miles.....so...yeah....

  • LMAO, I don't even watch Law and Order. I was making a joke. Please do inform me where I'm mistaken in anything though if you are an authority on the subject. I fully admit to lacking any sort of legal credentials or experience in law enforcement. I'm just someone with an engineer brain trying to find logical explanations or fill in gaps on things that don't make sense at first glance.
