Why does nobody here ever recommend Fedora to noobs?

I’m gunna read that but I’ve been drinking and ima be honest here my reaction is
Isn’t it always.
But frfr I am saving that for my read list because I am super into science, pick a science I adore it. Thanks for sharing :)
You are the first rando to ever call me friend like my friend does and I’m super here for it. Thank you for that, I really liked it. :)
I’m super behind you, friend. I will continue to call them oligarchs, I will continue to make wealth an embarrassment. I mean I’m poor and always have been so of course I’ll rail against the overlords… but 40% of the US population is poor, we are nearing a majority and that is super fucked, and that’s a huge potential voting bloc! We should really do shit with that!
Gosh, it must suck to have so much money and not do anything good for society with it. How embarrassing for you to have so much and do so little with it.
I mean look, if we just taxed shit appropriately we’d probably be mostly ok. There’s a reason tax cuts are so influential. And there’s a reason anyone over a certain income bracket should have $0 worth of loopholes. I’m down with tax loopholes but if you have more than $x in any bank account you are disqualified from claiming. Why not, right? Who does it harm? Nobody who matters.
I haven’t tried those, but I did hop a bit on a bad hard drive. mint was too much (also o just hate it, tbh). Antixlinux was too much and that’s meant to run off a flash drive so the drive was failing, and now it isn’t (new 15 year old drive!!!!!!) and Ubuntu is still a bit too much. But it runs a web browser which is all I need for a bedroom media device. I’d like more, but it’s enough.
But since then I’m seeking a different end goal. I was looking to optimize that old pos, but now if it just runs a browser and runs Plex web, I’m happy because it’s so old I can’t expect it to download for me.. it can do, but not well and I have other machines for that. I tried to use it as a download device but lol, nope, can’t handle that many p2p connections on 4g ram.
But I’ll try those on flash drives and see what they can do for me! Thanks for the recommend!
It’s not true for any piercing, so no.
The jewelry should be non-reactive metal, and thus doesn’t have a distinct flavor. Unless you’ve never tasted anything cooked on stainless, in which case you might notice it.
But likely? No.
I’ll use it if you do.
Pinky swear?
That’s why they signed it. It’s not binding so what does it matter?
I mean the US has taught me that being an ancom is the right path. I wish they had any support for what they actually preach being a good thing but I’m not into it. And I once signed my life away thinking it was right.. mistakes were made man.
(In fairness, I come from a conservative area, so I’m not against people, I just want what’s best for everyone, even if they don’t recognize it as a good thing yet.)
Technically I’m not even getting what I’m entitled to, I just recognize I get more than most of my comrades and until they get it I’m not pushing for myself.
Because you are right. It’s horrifying to go to a Va hospital, because the majority of people there are bitching up a storm because they aren’t getting care they should be entitled to. Wildly uncomfortable experience. And I don’t blame them and they deserve it way more than I do.. but technicalities..
I did that in the military. They were less keen and some shit hit some fans or whatever. So I got me some safety pins for my neckline and they shut the fuck up and my millennial self rejoiced.
I’m probably going to get downvoted for this but I’m a Linux noob overall…. Windows has historically been what I’ve used. Or Ubuntu. I did distrohop to antixLinux and other really super small distros, but they didn’t fix my problems and I ended up back on relatively bloaty Ubuntu for further testing and sadly it solved bout a third of my problems (the hardware is ancient enterprise shit with a whopping 4gb ram and 16 usb ports)
I’ve been looking for a Debian based system to replace Ubuntu because I’m a noob and Debian-based is super different from the fedora.
I’m sure fedora is great! Tons of people love it! But for a noob is can be really daunting. Especially when most Linux instructions come in three flavors “Ubuntu/debian” and 2 other things. Who knows which two. You, the advanced Linux user, probably know which two but your noob doesn’t. And doesn’t understand the difference.
I’m not a total noob but I prefer Debian because I know a person who gets Debian and can help me. If I knew a fedora user that was actually willing to help me, I’d use that, but I’ve never met one so I’ll stick with what I know.
I haven’t lived abroad but I’m a disabled vet and thus get social healthcare..
And it’s fucking horrifying what my countrymen/women don’t get. I get the European experience (less than, let’s be real.. I was gunna say more or less but it’s less…) and my comrades in arms (and just my comrades?) don’t because of technicalities? My brethren who choose not to support business get screwed? Fuck that we should all benefit.
To be clear, health should be a human right, housing should be a human right, food should be under health as a human right but let’s be serious it should be a separate human right so everyone has to acknowledge it. (thanks America for needing that to be spelled out…)
Make a scramble! It takes lots of ingredients, plus egg, but the egg is kinda on the side and largely irrelevant.
It’s all the ingredients that make the scramble worth it. Like life. It wouldn’t be great if everyone were… wait.. no..
Lots of flavors make the dish good. Yep that works.
Oh no no, it’s 10% of your gross income, my holy friend.
If you, on the inside and thus impacted by more gravity, which speeds up time (proven through ISS tests and general relativity) looked out, through gravity-based lensing, assuming you could even see more than a still image on the event horizon, and assuming it wasn’t warped beyond recognition, would time not be stopped for you? While you still saw yourself moving?
Sure, time would be stopped looking in, but since you are past the event horizon, why would stuff outside it continue to move for you? Your time moves differently.
I think a black hole would just be a mess for anyone anywhere near it, and I know we have no real solid understanding of how it works (because we definitely have no actual idea - we have never been remotely close to one ever, it’s all speculation) so..
TIL that the song from the time machine episode was a parody of "Zager And Evans - In The Year 2525"
So I’m faceblind, but really good with voices.
And she might be in other stuff, but I’ve not found it. I did find Lori petty in an episode of Star Trek, can’t even see her face for most of it.
Maybe because I’m not really into the “might as well be porn” genre of stuff (watched xena, Hercules, beast master, andromeda, and cleopatra 2525 as late night shit when I was a pre-teen, but I’m asexual and not into horny and never have been so I was into the storyline bad as it was), and thus unlikely to encounter her.

Of course, I have taste ;)
Plus lost in space (old and new), Star Trek, red dwarf, quantum leap, Babylon 5, sliders, Lexx, millennium, neverwhere…
I have 30tb of stuff on my Plex, mostly sci-fi/fantasy. And I’ve watched the majority of it because I have no life :)
The stuff on my Plex that doesn’t fit my genres wasn’t downloaded for me. But there isn’t much of that overall, maybe 500gb.
I was under the impression you’d never actually realize you were falling in because of the time dilation.
You would see everything around you slow down, while you seem to be going the normal speed, because gravity. As long as your body remained parallel to the hole itself so you didn’t get pulled to shreds.
I get that this shows the gravitational lensing and stuff but.. I’m having a hard time squaring that with time dilation. Would you actually see gravitational lensing from inside the lens?
I really never got into EverQuest. Maybe I’ll try again, but honestly at this point I’m sort of over social games. I played a lot of neverwinter when I was transitioning off wow, and it did the job, but I’ve not found any sort of mmo since that really makes me want to play.. because all I want to do most of the time is solo play and pug dungeons (always a disappointment).
I used to be a raid leader and main healer for the guilds’ clan (we had a group of iirc 6 casual guilds that shared forums and a vent server and would do stuff together like a super guild) and I miss doing that but… not enough to try to find it again I guess.
I desperately want to be into games like helldivers or other “major hit” social play games, but they are without fail not my style of game. So.. eh. I think that time in my life is just gone. Maybe when immersive VR is a major thing and there are mmos for it (ideally that don’t give me horrible motion sickness), that sounds pretty cool. But I won’t wait around with bated breath.
You can get a used ball lock/corny keg, a carbonation cap, a co2 cylinder, and a pressure regulator, and make it 5 gallons at a time if you want. No support for Israel involved :)
Bit pricy, the whole setup you need will probably run about $100-200 depending where you get it, but you can put damn near any liquid in it and make it carbonated if you want. Wine, juice, water, sugar water, flavored sugar water, milk if you feel bold (tho at that point just make kefir, that’s nice and bubbly), beer, liquor probably..
Actually I just looked at the price of a soda stream and this isn’t that pricy by comparison.. so there’s that.
I don’t have a soda stream, but I do have a carbonation cap for my 1/8 barrel homebrew kegs, and have used it to make “Italian soda” (carbonated water to which you add flavor syrup/puree in the glass).
Basically the same thing, just a lot bigger. I can’t fathom a reason to not want to use it if you like sparkling drinks, it’s a lot cheaper than buying soda water or whatever. Especially if you aren’t buying single use co2 charges and throwing them away after. I guess that would be my only real concern, personally. I hate those things. Such a small capacity makes them very wasteful, even if they technically/eventually get reused.
Surprisingly unhelpful, thanks! :)
That’s why I don’t swap for fedora. That’s the kind of help you tend to get unless you know someone who knows the distro, so I guess thanks for exemplifying :)
