  • My pug is on his very last legs, and I plan to have a come to Jesus with my ex about euthanasia this week (he was on vacation last week and so I just powered through so as to not ruin it, but is back today). He has diabetes, is blind, has tracheal stenosis, atopic dermatitis, also has a dry eye, has fatty lipomas, and dementia now, and seems very unaware of everything around him. I try to get him to sleep as much as possible, when he's awake he coughs and roams and pants and it's terrible. I've had a very long week.

But damn he was a funny dog even just a couple of years ago, and so affectionate. He used to scream in joy driving all the way to the dog park, and people in there could hear him blocks away. He could knock over any big dog he wanted, and he would eat the wildest things. I'll miss him so much, I already do.

  • The movie about Motley Crue, "The Dirt", which was interesting although I don't think began to scrape the surface of their depravity, and the third season of Somebody, Somewhere, which really is a wonderful show. Every episode has been a gem. I forgot how much I love Motley Crue as horrifying as they are historically, I'm glad they got out and got sober and left us with glorious hair metal at its peak.

  • I wish they would hire competent people at the MTO on this budget or improve their system, or something. I work in health care, and twice in the last year alone they have suspended the license of the wrong patient, despite the correct name and demographics being on the form, and when the person whose license was suspended incorrectly tried to sort it out with them they were completely unhelpful and rude, even though it was their error both times. They told some patient who had never set foot in my city let alone my hospital who they suspended the license of incorrectly because of a similar name to call us and have our doctor unsuspend it, and even when they went to Service Ontario and handed them their ID refused to help them, and even when I called them and explained they told them they'd have to have the doctor, who hadn't suspended this person's license, do the forms despite never laying eyes upon them, and they had to go to their MPP for help. They lose the license reinstatement forms no matter how they are submitted or how many times, even when we have written replies from them in email that they did receive it, and I've had patients lose their jobs because of it and have to go to food banks. Honestly I would actually support privatization when I normally would never do so with them, it's SO bad.

  • Judge's decision here.

Apparently one of the reasons for the sentence was that he was suffering from PTSD at the time, and other officers in similar cases were given the same sentence. So guys, if you want to send people who you are in a position of power over dick pics, just make sure to say it was because of PTSD because I'm sure that judgement would totally be the same for civilians right? .

In all seriousness I read a lot of judicial decisions in Canada and I find most of them measured and according to the law. I think the law needs to reflect harsher punishments for some crimes, like sexual assault/child molestation/rape/CSAM possession, etc. It's honestly shocking to read some of the crimes against children, and their perpetrators are never named so as to protect the child's privacy, but one guy was raping his 14 year old stepdaughter with a condom on every time for years, and because of the law could only get 8 years. The judge's hands are tied in this regard.

But somehow cops always get off.

  • I had vacation this week. I have to live with my vicious covert narcissist ex right now because of money and our dogs, one of whom is pretty close to the end of his life, and honestly my day to day life with him is very nasty as he's extremely manipulative and vicious. I can't change this right now.

But he went away by himself this week, so I took it off; I have tons of vacation time, and it's been SO NICE even doing basically nothing to just not really think about his horseshit for a week. He has been giving me the silent treatment for over 6 months now for reasons that I don't know and don't have the energy to find out, other than a few really vicious attacks and basic communication about day to day stuff we have to notify each other of (like appointments or dog things or whatever). It's SO nice to just do what I want and detach from all this for a week. I've been going swimming at the community pool almost every day, and just floating around on a pool noodle for an hour is just nice to escape. Can't wait to have him out of my life for good.
