Linux during the mid to late 90s (Windows 95 and 98 era)
  • Not a veteran, but... During the 90s, while still in primary school, a friend of mine bought a Chip magazine with a CD attached and instructions inside the magazine how to install a mysterious thing called "Linux" from said CD. It was supposed to be something like Windows 95, but new, better and it had a Penguin on it, so we decided to try it.

We followed magazine's installation guide to the letter (or at least we thought so) until the installation stuck at error saying KERNEL PANIC!!! and wouldn't let us finish. We didn't understand English much back then, but we found the panicking kernel hilarious. Anyway, we figured it's been enough h4Ck!nG for that day and got back to playing Diablo 1.

  • Here's the context from the linked article under that "woke reviewers" sentence:

    And a follow-up:

"if a reviewer objects to a character because of identity politics, I call that woke..."

I kind of agree with him. I initially didn't want to play the game because of all the bugs people were posting on reddit and because of reviews saying the game is average and pointing out some dialogs that were supposed to be bad or cringe.

Played it later when it came to PS+ and the game was amazing! The bugs had been fixed by then, and the dialogs were actually very good. The supposed bad dialogs from reviews were taken out of context to look bad.

  • Is there a long offline tutorial in Helldivers 2?

I want to play the game together with friends when they visit and I'm wanted to know if there's an offline tutorial needed to be completed before playing in a team. Wondering if it makes sense if everyone just sits there and play the tutorial by themselves or maybe we should all have it completed to be ready to jump into multiplayer right away when we meet.

    EDIT: all clear, thanks guys!

Always display .jpg instead of .webp

    Hi LJ!

Might be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway... Would it be possible for the app to always show .jpg pictures instead of .webp? If I remeber correctly, if you upload a .jpg or .png file, Lemmy converts it to .webp. Can this be reversed in Sync?

Does anyone know where to find Workday workbooks?

I can't seem to find them anywhere. I'm especially interested in Workday Recruiting Fundamentals and Workday Advanced Recruiting, but happy to get any workbooks as long as they are searchable rather than printed from VitalSource as pictures with watermark.
