  • I didn't even know this was possible. Looks like my current oven may be able to do it - it has a ticking timer knob - but pretty sure all previous ones didn't have this feature.

Other than the use case you have mentioned I can't see any reason to use it. It would be annoying to have the oven turn off before the food is cooked to perfection, which it rarely is at a prescribed time

  • Up until reading this comment I'd completey forgotten about ancaps. They used to be a big taking point on reddit. Just goes to show how irrelevant they were the entire time and how easy it is to distract from important stuff.

  • I suppose doing that could be an important part in a collapse of the capitalist system. If a community decided to stop farmers from selling massive harvests of one crop to corporations and supermarkets, often in other countries, and instead went back to eating locally grown seasonal food.

I mean, hemp grows pretty much anywhere

  • They would denounce it as western propaganda then proceed to make a completely irrelevant, but in no way incorrect, critique of NATO, USA and then call you a "lib" whilst all the replies would reinforce the inside jokes of the echo chamber.

  • Is that actually a fact or just some arbitrary definition you came up with?

Working a lot does not justify the bourgeoisie. Hard work does not = success. I could go and work myself to death right now, but for only minimum wage. There are certain groups of people who have a clear advantage, often from birth. Equating hard work with prosperity is a very old fashioned, conservative thing.
