I'm a moderator, and I was abused

I waited so long to come forward and tell my story because I didn't think anyone would believe me. But now I want people to know what happened to me, because if knowing what happened to me could prevent it happening to them, then I want them to know.

  • The user in question was a bit aggressive, but you did not clarify at all and ignored their question about the abbreviations policy.

Check out the opinions here https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/38104278

Apparently, you should ban yourself too

    • The afore linked community is now on our naughty list of communities frequented by naughty taker-backers (I will not use the culturally offensive word because that's not who we are here, even though I've seen the other community use it), who extend invitations to converse and then rescind them.

  • I've managed dig up a copy abbreviation policy (please let me know if there's a newer version of this)

    5.03 Abbreviations

    • The following words cannot be used in abbreviations, and their use in such a manner is a ban-able offence: "New", "York", "Times". In accordance with the Board's principles, these words are sacrosanct and to shorten them is heresy.
    • Taximeter cabriolet can be shortened to taxi
  • Thank you for your bravery. I am so sorry this happened to you, though I was really hoping to at least learn what the abbreviation means.

I too was banned from /r/news, but it was completely my own fault for not reading the 'reliable sources policy'.
