Wikipedia says only some historians believe that and that there are issues with that theory. Also the theory only applies to France so I’m not sure how it’s colonial
Why are you getting downvoted for sharing facts?
I don’t actually know 😅
Jesus Christ, it’s just a bit of fun…
ironically jesus is one of the reasons it's not
It's the same motive for literally demonizing pagan mythology and beliefs to force Christianity onto others.
April Fools Day stopped being fun when Woot sold out to Amazon.
I really don't care where the hell it came from, it's one of my favorite holidays since people use it as an opportunity to be super creative.
Speaking of which, I need to see what xkcd looks like today
Wait until you hear about Christmas
Yeah, it's bad. It's not even the worst thing they've done to pagans though, there's a reason why the pentagram ⛤ is associated with evil in this day an age. I'm in the first camp. Fun stuff like joke Minecraft updates is fun, and making obviously false jokes, but deceiving people if there's any change it's taken seriously and causes harm isn't great.
I've heard and seen some pretty disgusting and intentionally deceptive April fools day jokes in my life, many people seem to go way too far when it comes to the lying or deception or jokes that just aren't funny.
The roots of this holiday sucking are one thing, the fact that people very often go way too far is something else entirely.
