Because it makes their job of convincing people harder.

I'm skeptical of those numbers. Otherwise why every time it has been tried, it failed.
- I don't have a source for the post, but take a look at this: National poll shows 68% support for proportional representation.
  Everytime we've tried to get proportional representation, there's been very strong anti-democratic forces. Massive disinformation campaigns and fear mongering, and apathy.
