Ford government closing Ontario Science Centre today after report found roof in danger of collapsing
Friday is the last day of operations for the once-popular tourist attraction that successive Progressive Conservative and Liberal governments have allowed to deteriorate for years.
"Ontario’s auditor general said in December that “deferred maintenance projects that were at risk of critical failure have been repeatedly denied funding” at the science centre, including 42 such project since 2017, the year before the Ford government took power."
What a weird way to talk about the lack of funding as it relates to the government. So the 42 started the year before Ford's government took power. How many were before that? The way it's worded, it could be 1 of the 42 or up to 41 of the 42.
This makes me so sad. This was one of my favourite places growing up. Lots of good memories.
The government is willing to give the beer store $225 million instead of giving $40 million to fix the roof of the science centre. Just far right governments with their mixed up priorities.

The Ontario government is willing to have the tax payer cover 10% the cost on all alcohol sold outside the LCBO so companies can compete with it
I absolutely do not want my tax dollars going to promote alcohol competition. That is absolutely ridiculous. Wasn't the whole point to make alcohol easier to access?
The bottle of pop at the gas station is easier to access, all the snacks and drinks there are twice the price as the grocer. Why do we need a different attitude towards alcohol?
They understand beer. They don't understand science. They don't particularly like people who do.

Glad I got to see it one last time this past year... many memories and a lot of the exhibits I remembered from before are still there.
You mean they just happen to have to do what they wanted to and planned to do anyway? Wow! That's so convenient for them.
