A while ago someone posted a page that listed companies that went out of business during covid for the purposes of faking job history.

Honestly I don't mind being an amazon delivery driver. I like not needing a mask because I'm outside not dealing with people. I like not having a supervisor (that I actually have to deal with day to day). I like listening to podcasts all day. And I think I like the more or less 4 days of 10 hours I do. I even enjoy the singular aspect of my schedule changing all the fucking time that it sometimes makes me feel like I mostly live outside of work (like tomorrow I end a 3 day weekend for a 2 day workweek and another 3 day weekend follows) (although this weekend capped a 6-out-of-7 day streak that was pretty rough).

So honestly I'm conflicted when it comes to looking for a new job because a 'better' job won't have any of that. Not unless I can land the dream of a remote work job. But I can't exactly make a sustainable life out of this job when it pays barely enough to be 3x my rent when I live with two roommates and drive 30-60 minutes each way, and that's with still using my free state hobo health insurance and declining to withhold taxes each paycheck. The math is gonna stop adding up soon... Also I played it up but it ain't such a glamorous job digging through an overstuffed van looking for that one 40 pound box that you either unload everything or pull out at a weird unsafe-for-your-back angle. And summer is coming. And did I mention I get a new schedule every week and just got informed for next week this afternoon?
