Why can I upload an image with a maximum size of 8MB in some instances but can't upload a video with a maximum size of 8MB?

Doesn't seem to make sense, shouldn't the file size be the only problem?

It's all about preference of admins. Just ask them what they're allowing.
I should know better than to ask but...
What kind of image are you uploading to a lemmy instance that's eight meg?
- Seems like a reasonable size limit for a modern phone camera picture.
- none actually, I just noticed that some instances (lemmy.world I guess) allows images with a size up to 8MB, but usually they're a few KBs
