Oh sweet. I thought Newpipe stopped development to work on a rewrite, or am I misremembering? Either way, nice to see comments working again.
22 0 ReplyPossibly that's only about changes to the UI, and this is to the extractor. Afaik newpipe's extractor is used by other projects too, like piped

Thanks for the post. Comments hasn't been loading for like months. Just updated and it's fixed.
14 0 ReplyWhy on earth would you want YouTube comments. That's the best thing about this, switching them off.
Jokes aside, happy for you that something you are using is working again.
3 1 ReplySometimes they're useful. I was watching a tier list of swimming caps and the comments happened to ask decent questions and the author was answering them politely.
11 0 ReplyWatching something that is useful. Like tutorials on working on cars, PCs etc...
Not all of YouTube is garbage. Some of us like to learn things

I prefer Tubular for reliability+sponsorblock, or LibreTube for Material UI.
13 0 ReplySame. Libretube is the first that I check, sometimes doesn't work then I go to Tubular.
5 0 ReplyThere is also PipePipe
4 0 Reply+1 as i use it and its actually updated in fdroid main repo.
3 0 ReplyIs it updated faster than BraveNewPipe?
Cuz BraveNewPipe has sponsorblock and return YT dislike built-in.

Same. Tubular is awesome

Are they going to update it in the main f droid repo now ? Otherwise whatever .
12 1 ReplyAre you aware of Obtainium
5 1 ReplyYes but i'm not interested as fdroid has many features that i like for ex: conforming the builds, inclusion policy, stopping updates if something is changed, removing proprietary builds etc obtainium is just a tool to make getting apps from git or anywhere else easy and not at all as safe ir useful as fdroid for me .

3 0 ReplyIf you're primarily downloading videos, there's a much better open-source app for that called tydlnis, here: https://ytdlnis.com
If you're using it to just browse, there probably is, but I can't help you there.

NewPipe adding comment replies is the biggest QoL improvement they made. Now I no longer will need to open YouTube in browser to peek at some comments every time. It became a punishing exercise.
7 0 ReplyAnyone here know how to disable shorts? I could've sworn there was an option to disable it previously, but I can't find it any more.
7 0 ReplyHide the 'Shorts' channel tab:
Settings > Content > Channel tabs > Uncheck 'Shorts'
Hide shorts in feed/subscriptions:
Settings > Content > Fetch channel tabs > Uncheck 'Shorts'
9 0 ReplyThanks! I did that, but it doesn't get seem to get rid of them from "trending".

Is it still alive? I switched to LibreTube and happy with it.
