Meanwhile, "liberal media" (read: media owned by the wealthiest) tells me I don't need a gun. While Democrats try, and sometimes pass, useless gun legislation, that while doing nothing to dial in the harm, somehow gives the rich and the police (even EX-police) a pass.
It's a conundrum. I just can't imagine why the rich want to prevent us from owning arms while giving themselves a free pass. Weird.
I don't think guns are needed in the way they're mythologized in the US as, where people buy a gun with the fantasy they'll one day get to use it in the most brutal fashion in a way that's justified in their mind. A lot of them love the idea that someone would break in to their house so they get to be the hand of justice. What the gun lobby and politics doesn't really emphasize is that most gun deaths are suicides.
The front runner for the Presidency of the United States just called me "vermin" and an "internal enemy" that must be eradicated. I'll keep my guns thank you.
And everything you said about gun owners is so wrong I can't even begin to rebut. Even the right-wing nuts don't talk like that.
BUT, you are on the money about ~47% of gun deaths being suicides. It's fucking appalling.
Non-violence is a bourgeois value in this context, so they pay the lower class to exert violence on their behalf. What non-violence means to the lower class is in conflict with this.
