Damn, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. I remember finding that early prototype video somewhere online in the pre-youtube days.

I never understood those, they just seem like pencils but with useless plastic waste
You're not wrong. As soon as you lose one "round", the entire pencil stops working.
It lets the pencil stay the same length and not need a sharpener.
