My neighbor (who is racist, he's said to me he hates latinx people, just casually) is fighting with his girlfriend (?) the woman who lives with him, who I'm pretty sure is an addict and it's a white

trash shitshow next door.

I have nothing against the woman living with him since I'm an addict myself, but the people that show up over there at like night, idk sketchy shit. The other day I saw someone leaving and it was a carful of people tweaking out and fighting, like actually trading blows, in the car then it speeded off

.

My neighbor, the dude, is an old drunk who I honestly think has wet brain and he tries to talk to me whenever I'm outside doing something. In the brief exchanges we've had (since I always pretend I'm busy and can't talk) he's talked about how much he hates "mexicans" and that he's got a raccoon (?) problem, I think? The guy is wildly incoherent since he's always hammered.

ANYWAY, I live in a "good" neighborhood and yet here you go, good honest white people being shitty folks. I'll take those "mexicans" any day over you losers.

  • Reminds me of my neighbor back in the day who kept calling me Mexican in a "friendly" way

    I'm Puerto Rican

Which I told him on several occasions

  • I had this ancient neighbor, white guy, wore his participation trophy Vietnam vet hat everywhere.

he was obviously lonely as shit because he would try to make me talk to him anytime I was outside at the same time, even while I was trying to mow the lawn.

I would have had more empathy, but within 30 seconds of our first conversation he was telling me how bad it was that "our" neighborhood was full of Mexicans. that was the sentence before he wanted to tell me about his church being the only right one. my man was holding pocket aces at the poker table of casual conversation.

like, if you're gonna open the dialogue with explicit racism... it pretty much solves the riddle of how one becomes a lonely old man full of regret, desperate for connection. because very few people are going to want to stick around and hear the somehow-even-less-savory takes you're keeping quiet about at first.

I've met this old guy so many times, it makes me wonder that they reach such an advanced age with 0 self-awareness. It's probably the fault of immigants.
