No, this is a misleading headline. The city is proposing a zoning change, and it's required to give property owners notice using boilerplate language as set out in Texas law. Residential zones are typically the most restrictive, so the move to mixed-use zoning actually will allow owners more options for the use of their own property.
They voted to give the town over to the company. No sympathy from me.

Nobody's losing their homes. The 'lose right to use property' in the title is from the legal boilerplate and conveniently cuts off 'for its current use', which would apply to industrial plants and such if the area was zoned so.

I've never heard anything good about company towns. Doesn't mean it can't happen. To me it just seems like another way for a company to control the workers and a quick path to indentured servitude.
