Please please break from the Democrats
They kinda need to, its the only hope left
Good. Power up
Bernie really is what US, and the rest of the world, needs. He seems like a politician that cares about what's best for everyone (not hust himself and his friends). I really hope Trump doesn't make him disappear or fall out a window.
I am glad they are “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” but I need them to start organizing a resistance. I am scared and I have no idea what to do anymore.
I mean, his campaign slogan is literally "Not me. Us."
if people are assuming that an octogenarian and a House Rep for a single tiny district in NY are going to singlehandedly rescue the country, they're wildly mistaken how large scale resistance counterculture movements actually gain traction.
"I'm too tired today, can't AOC just do it for me?" is pretty weak. maybe Americans just aren't capable of organizing and fighting?
Find your local leftist gun club if you can.
but I need them to start organizing a resistance
I'm saying it now; they won't. I can lay out my reasoning, but they just won't. Any resistance will have to come from You the People and be led by You the People.
I'm sure they're also aware of the risk of forming an actual resistance.
An armed resistance can't form with such prominent figures. The GOP would see to that.
Additionally, it would fundamentally break OPSEC of who is organizing it. Public figures are easy targets for the FBI.
Suspend everything you know for a moment and pretend that Waltz was actually a member of the resistance. He's the one that pulled the journalist into the Signal group. In this pretend world, he did it so that he could show how bad the administration is at their own OPSEC. He would have to then maintain the cover of being a good right-wing nut job less he be found out.
Ok we can turn back to reality now, because we all know if that were true, Waltz would be dead. But my point is, a good resistance is quiet until actions are taken. But to build a resistance, you also need people who can get connected, in big cities, and know that there are other like minded people. Would be a real shame if like, 34,000 people turned up to one of these protests and started talking about things that they can do together to fight back.
Honestly, if Kamala or hell even Obama came out as resistance leaders, we'd be in a much better position to take Trump.
We need allies with something to lose so we can trust them.
I was gonna say it's rare for Jacobin to be this far off the mark, but then I read the article and they're not, because of this bit:
The “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” rallies headlined by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can become something much bigger — if Bernie and AOC direct their rally attendees into sustained organizing efforts against Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
And that's what's ultimately going stop this whole thing from amounting to anything: Bernie and AOC are just not gonna do that. As for why you'll have to ask them, but they won't and anyone who thinks they will needs to challenge their inner biases and take a serious look at both of their track records. It's frankly baffling to me how anyone—and especially someone who teaches labor studies like the author of this article—can look at these two and see resistance leaders. More fundamentally, though, the left needs to stop conflating "must", "can" and "should" with "will".
I also take issue with this:
These events have had a concrete strategic focus, as one of Bernie’s advisers explained online: “For those asking, yes these [rallies] are tied to action. All have been in or near GOP-held swing districts and we are following up with specific actions to pressure their Member to vote NO on any Medicaid cuts or billionaire tax breaks — or else face electoral consequences.”
Didn't this particular goal already fail? Trump has full control of the budget no?
have you been to or watched any of their speeches? because I have and from what I'm hearing, firing up people to take action in person (not just posting and voting but protesting in real life) is exactly what they're encouraging... it's fine to criticize their records as not being "Left enough" but let's be real, are there any actually Leftist politicians who enjoy widespread popular support in the US?

Protesting in real life is less than the bare minimum, though. Read the article again; it says they need to direct attendees to be organizers, to actively organize all manners of resistance activity (protesting in the way Americans think of the act isn't enough) and get their friends, coworkers and neighbors to join.
it's fine to criticize their records as not being "Left enough" but let's be real,
No no that's not what I'm doing. I mean I do think they're too passive and too establishment-friendly for the things they're trying to do, but I'm not criticizing them at all. In fact their track records are just fine (if in many ways lacking) for what they are, and that's the thing: They're not resistance leaders; they're charismatic center-left legislators with the ability to rile up a crowd who are popular with American progressives and that's it. Expecting them to spearhead the resistance (or even just progressive politics) is barking up the wrong tree, and Americans need to hurry up and find the right tree to bark up before it's too late.
I don't know how I feel about this. I think America broke me.
Bernie had a mass movement, then he endorsed Biden and they left.
