Ted watching the rain.

Last real day of work tomorrow.
Mainly meetings. Monday is do nothing day and Tuesday is the last day. Catching up with people Tuesday for lunch.
It's almost over.

Thunderstorm just rolling over the village, but the house battery is fully charged and I need not fear the inevitable power cut.

Submitted another assessment, and passed the two I submitted last night. Phew!
Gotta wait for the quizzes to open, and complete the last two assessments on WHS, and I should be good.
I really hope I hear back about that job I interviewed for on Tuesday. I'm trying not to think too hard on it, just remain hopeful but not dwell. It's so hard because I'd freaking love it. Argh!

The rain has stopped and best sky pretty I’ve seen in a while

Listened to a podcast about a guy who pretended to be a Saudi prince and defrauded people out of millions of dollars. He managed to access a credit card with a limit of $200 million and no one really knows how he did it.

I'm a bit concerned about this weather. I told Mr Woof it should be cool enough for afternoon walkies today, now it looks like we could get rained out.

  He does have a raincoat. No boots though. He's fine getting wet, but when he is wet he will roll on everything and run up and down the hallway rubbing against the walls. So if he does get wet he has to wear his robe until he dries off.

There was 6 lamb chops. Theoretically 2 each but they were so good and the kid took too long to get to the table that I declared "there's only one chop each" and wrapped the other one up for the dog and I to share for ron.

P.s. Don't worry. She won't starve. I gave her more vegetables and she didn't even mention how delicious the chop was. Only mentioned how good the mushroom was.

  NOOOOOOO. Read a review or something first. People have got to stop giving ubisoft money if the game is shit. I stress the IF there. If its good go nuts! Took me ages to get my wife to see she was in an abusive relationship with AC games. She hate played odyssey and I had to put my foot down after she was yelling at the tv.
  
  I have read reviews and watched gameplay videos over the past while.
  Looks better than previous iterations.
  And honestly, I've enjoyed each AC game to some extent. Valhalla was a low point for me, but had fun at the start. Mirage was decent, with a fine story.
  By all accounts this one is an improvement over the previous RPG ones.

- I’ve always been a bit meh on miso soup. It’s ok enough, but if it wasn’t there I wouldn’t miss it. Everything else in a bento is delicious.

Getting proper rain here now in Thornbury.
- I think it's just arrived in Ringwood now. Fortunately it held off long enough that Mr Woof and I only had to contend with a bit of drizzle on our walk.
- Just as I was driving through. Bell St was decidedly floody round the edges.

Legitimate question; what has happened to the Monash Freeway the last four or so weeks? Morning commutes are now ~75 minutes from like 6:30am onwards. Used to be a clean run up until like 7:15 or so.
- More return to office mandates is my guess.
  
  It’s economically rubbish all round. More costs for government: More wear and tear on roads, more road accidents; Bad for environment: more petrol burnt, more pollution; Bad for employers: Less productivity, cranky staff, more leasing costs for offices, less access to talent because geographical restrictions; Bad for the employees: less personal time and family time, bad for kids, bad for community, and cost of commuting mean less money to spend elsewhere so cost of living impact. It’s completely ridiculous anyone would try to claim it has net positives, it’s nothing but a power trip for shitty employers. But this is the world we live in. There’s no sense to it.
  
  It’s absolutely atrocious now; was hoping it might be temporary due to roadworks elsewhere, or bus replacements due to train works.
  Makes my commute cancer, and I don’t even have the option to take public transport instead 😭

Alright I have bought a carrot, quarter head of cabbage, red capsicum and some green beans to cook with the remaining eggplants and new pack of tofu puffs. And braved Glenferrie Rd to get the requisite spice paste earlier. Let the sayur lodeh commence. Even though I will not have lontong to eat with it
E: it only took an hour but it is done. It is not really sayur lodeh but an inspired stew absolutely overstuffed with vegetables. I should've really kept it to cabbage, eggplant, half a carrot, green beans and tofu puffs. But I also threw in leftover bottle gourd, red capsicum, and tempeh. Barely enough space but it all cooked. Half of it is going in the freezer.

I got very lucky with my tech support session yesterday. I just had to set up a scanner, which could have been simple enough, but the laptop wasn't connected to wifi, nor was it picking up the hotspot from my phone.
Fortunately, the laptop was old enough to still have a disc drive. So I was able to install the drivers from the disc that came with it instead.
- Every house with those demon driveless devices should have at least one usb cd/dvd rom. People mock the humble optical drive until the shit hits the fan, then they roll around squealing
  
  I have one of these. I also have a usb 3 1/4 floppy disk drive, do I get bonus points for that?
  
  I plugged a leftover usb sata hdd controller into an internal cd-rom drive to get USB CD action a few months ago. Kinda surprised, kinda impressed.
  
  It worked in this case. But it was so weird with this laptop, it wasn't picking up any wifi networks. They had an ancient laptop at home as well and that one was connected to the wifi there. I was even able to connect the printer to the wifi via WPS. This laptop was picking up nothing. I was ready to drive down to the nearest Jaycar and pick up an ethernet cable.
  I think I assume to much of a tech competence baseline in these sessions. At first I was worried they wouldn't be able to login to the laptop because they bought it a while ago specifically to scan photos and hadn't touched it in years. I should ask people to have their diaries with their passwords handy, make sure they can login to the devices and accounts they want to work on, and I should bring a couple of common cables just to make sure as well.

Also picked up some thin little crispy things. 3 packets for 2 bucks each at 185g.
Good deal and don’t taste too bad either.

Have band rehearsal with new band Saturday which should be fun.
Will go out Saturday night, have a couple of options.
Then 2 more days or work next week and I get a week off till I start the new job!!!

My boxes should be arriving today. I don't even have anywhere to move to yet, but the prospect of having to pack the house up is so overwhelming/terrifying I am determined to start as early as possible.

I finally got some formatting on the online store working how I want it. Why doesn't the Proceed To Cart and Checkout buttons inherit from the regular button style, and why can't you change them in an editor if that's the case?
- That sounds like a pain in the ass tbh
  
  It has been. I think between Wordpress and Woocommerce they're trying to expand what you can do through visual editors, but there are still some problems.
  I figured it out though, and I figured out how to do it with a live preview all through Inspect Element on the site. If anything, having limited editing and styling options was a distraction because I was trying to do it through there instead of just making custom CSS

I finally got sucked in by the advertising and bought a pair of loop earbuds. I come home exhausted from my office days and I think the ambient noise is partly to blame. And I get a bit of traffic noise at home. Trying them at home today and seem ok but the test will be the office tomorrow.

Warehouse manager and I are good friends outside of work, but inside of work it's a tough slough. Our brains just work so differently, it's both infuriating and hilarious trying to understand each other.
This rain is making me so sleepy. I want to curl up under my desk!
