I'm a moderator, and I was abused

I waited so long to come forward and tell my story because I didn't think anyone would believe me. But now I want people to know what happened to me, because if knowing what happened to me could prevent it happening to them, then I want them to know.

If a banned user asks for where a rule is written and you ignore it multiple times you’re probably either a troll or an asshole. Also the sidebar of that community has no rules…

- The afore linked community is now on our naughty list of communities frequented by naughty taker-backers (I will not use the culturally offensive word because that's not who we are here, even though I've seen the other community use it), who extend invitations to converse and then rescind them.

And yet, still no abbreviation's policy to be found....
- This community, and SDF overall, is very much not serious. Look at the timestamps. They were made in a crude manner deliberately. A lot of satire, like this, gets posted here. Is OP guilty of !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com ? Yeah, sure. As with many things that get posted on this instance, you are lacking context from being outside of it. I believe that OP was, in fact, deliberately highlighting that they screwed up. Why else would they post this here, in a largely satirical community, and deliberately make false/bad timestamps on the image?

Reading from 9:09:12 AM till the end, I can notice that you did not address the main concern and instead focused on your name.
A link to the policy could have ended all of this peacefully.
I understand the whole thing, but you need to have transparency in mod actions.
- The username is entirely irrelevant, and the poster should have realized this. Usernames are completely capable of meaning nothing whatsoever.

5.03 Abbreviations
The following words cannot be used in abbreviations, and their use in such a manner is a ban-able offence: "New", "York", "Times". In accordance with the Board's principles, these words are sacrosanct and to shorten them is heresy.

Is it really that hard to provide this poster with a reference to the policy against abbreviations you state exists? Also, what kind of policy is that? You do understand you would have to ban anyone using "you'd, can't, I'm, etc." since these are all abbreviations?
Please explain yourself as this seems to be a very concerning way to moderate an instance as big as yours

  Says who? If you contract word aren't you also abbreviating them? This goes to show that policies like this (should this exist in the first place, of course) makes absolutely no sense at all
  
  Also, usernames do not necessarily mean anything, ever. It seems like a diversion tactic in an attempt to whine about being banned.

I read "sh" as an abbreviation for 'shit head'. Not sure if thay was intended but grammatically it fits perfectly.

Anyway, this user is clearly being a sh and deserves the ban simply for their reaction. Never in my life have i attempted to seek information in such a hostile way even after being banned. lol

I'm sorry to report to everyone coming here, but this instance is absolutely full of avant garde satire. Did noone think that manually scribbled timestamps might be an indicator?

  I am editing to clarify things, since I am likely to be the only one who will. This post is in no means serious. If it was, why would the OP scribble timestamps crudely? This instance, SDF, is more of an avant garde artist collective kind of thing (outside of the communities here that are doing some seriously amazing dedicated work like !amputee@lemmy.sdf.org etc). I have no idea why @qrstuv@lemmy.sdf.org decided to make a news community - that one is unironically odd, and I offered to help moderate in a serious manner. The community you are viewing this in exists because @wesker@lemmy.sdf.org was legitimately being harassed and made some comedy out of it. I really mean it when people randomly commenting here don't get it. You need a lot of context.

Thank you for your bravery. I am so sorry this happened to you, though I was really hoping to at least learn what the abbreviation means.
I too was banned from /r/news, but it was completely my own fault for not reading the 'reliable sources policy'.
