I've known plenty of trans folk. Over all, they were chill as fuck, and are generally enjoyable to talk with. But holy farking shitballs, if exposure to this instance was all I knew about GNC/trans people, I'd assume most are insane and love drama.

The whole argument doesn't even make sense. Whether or not the two individuals in question are trolls has no bearing on the situation. It DID give bigots, trolls, and perpetually online rabble rousers a very flimsy excuse to start shit and start shit they did.
Individuals don't defederate, they block users and instances... Many not-permabanned users have blocked this instance, which is effectively like a slow defederation.
If you can name times you have seen someone picking and choosing which trans folks are "good for their space," I will stand corrected, but it seems to vary mostly from "maybe don't give trolls who tell depressed trans folk to murder-suicide a free pass," or "idk what this drama is, I'm out."
And I wonder who "started shit?" Abusive trolls that mock GNC and otherkin, telling people that literal murder-suicide is an option, maybe?
