All the windows are washed and the back deck is pressure washed. Both fridges are cleaned inside and out. I might need something for a hard earned thirst.

I think I will do my strategy of working a bit tomorrow so I can have a breather on Tuesday to cook and wash up. Definitely not driving on Wednesday. Also realised they put only one of my two discount items as discounted at the Expensive Kids Clothes Store - I'm going straight back tomorrow even though it's a bitch to park, that dress was expensive enough on discount let alone full price! Harrumph.

So I am about to enrol in the teaching course for next year and I am very apprehensive. I feel as though my fight-or-flight response will be activated almost all of the time, so I'm praying I make it into OT should this job destroy my mental health more than I'm expecting it will. When tutoring, I had no idea what to say to kids sometimes, so I'm going to start a word document with things I could say in certain situations. Those certain situations:

• a kid calls me a cunt or a bitch or "rapeable" or says whatever the new inappropriate slang term is, like "GYAT" (my dad said to threaten them with him going after them and punching their heads in)

• talking over me

• bullying other kids

• more annoying tiktok slang

• questions about connecting on social media (they told us to prepare a response for this)

• questions about personal life (when I was in high school, someone asked the substitute teacher we had if she was a virgin and she just froze)

• refusal to follow instructions (this happened in tutoring with this one kid who refused to do any work and was disrespectful)

Also, wrong answers only for what you would do in these situations :p

The community pantry was looking a bit sad so I was looking for bulk mini toiletries on a hotel supplies site… clicked a product and got sent to a spam site 😬

I’m hoping it’s only on their end and hasn’t infected my phone. I’ve backed it up and installed the update (which I should have done before but was on the fence about the AI crap included).

Also Melbcat is still lethargic and unhappy. She was sick last night and is very thingy about having her ears touched so it’s possible she’s got an ear infection from a reaction to the antibiotics.

I hate to sound like a Grinch but I'll be glad when Xmas is over. Now that I'm not working I've got plenty of time to feel how stressed out I am.

Last gym sesh for the year complete

It's family xmas day for me - and the longest day of the year. For a number of reasons. One good thing is the venue is Somers on Westernport Bay, where my brother has a house. It's been my family's go to spot for holidays since about 1966 and while it's changed a lot I still love it there.
Taking a hot-smoked trout with cajun spices for my contribution to the feast, and some toum.

Should be thinking about starting to prep the cooking for Christmas Day but I’m gonna read all day instead 😏

Phew bro and sil only staying one night this xmas.

It gon' be frosty in those high temps though.

RIP to anyone who had hoped to go to the Grampians over xmas/NY. It's not looking great especially with the scorcher predicted on Boxing Day.

Today I need to go water two friends' plants and sort out the crap I've left at one place. I'm loathe to face the small pile but I WILL do it! And then plan my cooking for Xmas lunch as I'm working Monday and Tuesday.

I'm almost wondering if it might be worth it to work from home on Sunday instead and cut short Tuesday so it's less of a rush. Might just do that...

If you're wondering how much the 59g eggs at Vic Market weigh, wonder no longer. They are 65g each.

Lol, just saw that Johnson & Johnson have a class action against them, because Phenylephrine does nothing for nasal congestion.

I'm like, we all knew that, so yay someone is holding them accountable. I did see people complaining how hard it is to get the proper stuff OTC, Pseudoephedrine, but I've never had a problem getting it from my little local pharmacy - though that may be because they know me by name now and they ping I'm not a drug maker lol.

But yes, Phenylephrine does nothing for colds and flus.

Quirks of moving I forgot about: getting confused, disoriented, and muscle memory breaking down. Got absorbed into a video early on my computer, and got really confused when I heard the blind on the small window behind me clank, because I didn't have a window behind me in the last place

Then I forgot where the door was and almost walked into the wall. Brain tried to autofill the space with what was normal a week ago I suppose

I think part of the reason this is affecting me more than when I moved into the last place is that this time the furniture and layout is very similar, but windows and doors are in different spots. It even looks similar to the last place in my peripheral vision, besides the lower roof. I've even got the same bed and desk just about in the same spots they were relative in the last place

On a more positive note I'm excited about the possibilities of a gigantic floor to ceiling pantry! I could store so much stuff. After unloading what was about a 3 quarter full pantry from the last place into here, it looks like I haven't gone shopping in weeks and barely have anything. I do, however, have a much smaller fridge/freezer. It came with the house (along with the washing machine). I might ask for funding to get a larger or more energy efficient fridge before I turn 18 and it officially becomes my problem. Or failing that I might set up a saved search on guntree until something suitable comes along at the right price. Since I've got one that works, I'm mostly worried about energy efficiency

Bleh. Woken up with a headache today. Not a good start to the break.

Making good, but very slow progress in rearranging the abode.

Interesting thing is that while the couch is in a weird place, it’s opened up the space so much, I still can’t get over it whenever I walk through the door.

Still have a fair bit of crap to sort out though.

Meanwhile, my dirty little secret of the month is the amount of cheesy Christmas shows I’m devouring.

I now want to find the most Christmassy place to partake in the most cheesiest Christmas things I can do. 😂

I thought a bunch of cheese on my mini pizza hadn't melted yet. Turned out to be pineapple.

I just saw the forecast for Boxing Day. Oh Dear.

Found bibs at the supermarket so they came yesterday. Very cute but already being tested by spat out medicine. Melbcat is not pleased :(

I also found what looks like cabbage moth eggs on the nasturtium seedlings. That was fast. I put them out for part of the day yesterday. First time they’ve been out.

Edit: Another male flower. I have 8 cut male flowers in the fridge, one fertilised female and the rest of the females are barely forming.

The ratio and timing is so off I’m afraid these plants are a little bit silly

(Maybe a slight embellishment. Am now awaiting brunch. Yeah, I know it’s well after lunch, but I still call it brunch.)

Also had to do an embarrassing manual 20 point turn to pull the bike up onto the footpath to get it out of the no standing area. But I worked for my brunch then!

Dragged my sorry arse out of bed to get the chain adjusted on one of the bikes.

Have to admit, while I feel like arse, the weather is gorgeous this morning.

Ugh. I had to redirect a couple of parcels that were coming through couriers please. They're saying one of them was delivered to my new address when it absolutely wasn't and is nowhere to be found

They're saying that redirecting a parcel also gives them permission to leave it without a signature, and giving them permission to leave it means they take no responsibility for it actually arriving (or in their words - they take no responsibility after its delivered, but they seem to equate the two to being the same thing)

Kmart are also saying they take no responsibility either

Nobody knocked on my door, and the time from getting the email it had been delivered (with no proof of delivery photo, of course), to me going searching was less than 5 minutes. I doubt anybody stole it. Not delivered to the neighbour either
